San Jose

We got the Parillada for two and it was enough food for at least 3 people! And a side of guacamole, possible the best restaurant guac I’ve ever had. The parillada was a mixture of beef, chicken, shrimp, and carnitas with sautéed mushrooms, peppers and onions. It was everything we could want, with plenty for dinner for both of us.

After a long day's drive, we stopped in Weldon, NC (near Roanoke Rapids) at a motel and drove over to San Jose Mexican Restaurant for dinner. Irene ordered the chicken enchilada combo, which was simple and tasty. Having read other reviews, I decided to order the fresh made Guacamole and the Pablano and Chicken Fajitas. The Guacamole was absolutely declicious, fresh made with Jalapeno peppers, onion, tomato, and chopped (rather than mashed avacado, it was the best I've ever had, and there was enough to take home a generous portion for tomorrow. The main course was the Pablano and chicken fajitas. It came bubbling in the frying pan with onions, lots of melted cheese, pablano peppers, squash and other veggies along with a side of shredded cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo, with another side of beans and rice. The pablanos were hot and fresh while the chicken was tender, not overcooked. Again, the portion was generous and will be served for supper tomorrow. We'll stop here on our next trip through North Carolina just to eat at the marvelous Mexican restaurant, which is part of a small North Carolina chain. Enjoy!

No other place in this town has service and food this goid and constant. They go above and beyond every single time. I go often, even some times when I'm not even in the mood for Mexican food just because I know the food and service will be so good and they will make me feel very welcom. This place is very very well managed.
