We came for arepas and they were amazing. Order at the register, straightforward menu. Food didn’t take long to come out, even though it was pretty busy. Standard sized lobby, pick your own seating, clean overall. Excellent experience, food, and service. Will be back again, highly recommended.
Food here was amazing! Came from the west coast and was glad to find this gem. Some places ask you to leave a review so I'm skeptical to believe in the reviews. Know that I'm not leaving this review because I was asked to do so... the food here is simply that good. I came to Richmond on a business trip for 2 days, both days I ate at Bocata. I had the Sifina, Catira, the hotdog and the tequeños. They are all amazing!
Venezuelan hot dogs are different than American so you have to be prepared and open minded about a loaded dawg.
The arepas were juicy and tasty.
Seems like locals are starting to discover this place, it's steady busy but not too crazy. You wait about 10 minutes for food to be ready because it's freshly made upon ordering.
Hope my travels bring me to Richmond again and wish this place the best success... They deserve it.
From the outside, doesn't look like much. However, the great tasting food and friendly service completely offset the outward appearance.
Walked up and he handed us a menu. Very nice, patiently answered my questions and made some good recommendations. I had the hamburguesa. My wife had the Nachos and we split a Pabellon empanada.
The hamburguesa was amazing. Egg, sliced ham, two burger patties, Cole slaw and a massive amount of melted cheese. What could be wrong with that? The only problem is if you aren't really hungry.
The Pabello empanada wasnt my favorite. The sweetness of the plantain wasnt my preference. The nachos were amazing and very filling.
I will definitely be coming back.
I lost a bet and had to pay for dinner with my wife so of course she picks here. Turns out its actually phenomenal food and the guy working the front was really cool. Not the cheapest but definitely good eats. Even won some awards for their burger which you might be able to see in the background of the picture. Highly recommend.
Amazing food! If you're looking for something not only different but delicious, this is the spot! That emapanada... crispy outside and juicy inside! The patacon is an explosion of flavors! 3 meats, grilles cheese, coleslaw and all those sauces!! Food heaven!
This is not fast food so don't expect to pay $5 for a burger.. you're looking at $10-$15 of deliciousness!! Enjoy!
The food and service is always great! My favorite spot for Venezuelan food. Bocata is a small restaurant, but it's very clean and well maintained. They offer many traditional dishes at a moderate price!
Oh man. I had heard of this restaurant a month or two ago but kept putting it off because it seemed to be not really near much. On a Saturday where we didn't have much else to do, we decided to make the drive down. We got the nachos, and two arepas (pabellon and llarena) and everything was so delicious! I can't even choose which one I liked the most, because each thing was just so good. Definitely coming back again!
Food is always amazing and perfectly seasoned. My favorite dishes are the parrilla and pescado frito. Had the Bocata nachos this time.
The food here is out of this world. Not fancy at all from the outside of the restaurant but five star food. I reccomend anyone wanting to eat latin food should go here.
Glad we visited this Venezuelan restaurant. Food was great. I got the Traditional plate. This restaurant was recognized in the 2017 Richmond magazine as a must visit and it didnt disappoint.
