Community Canteen

I would give Community Canteen 3.5 stars. I tried this place for breakfast. First of all, it is not easy to find. I think it is more like Bechtel's personal eatery. It is located at the back of the building (can get to it by walking around outside, or walking through the building and out the back entrance). It is laid out canteen style, with clean tables inside and outside. Staff is very friendly, but you may need to repeat your order (English not first language). The food is VERY good and very fresh: I got a custom omelette with potatoes and sausage links, and a mocha. The food was not greasy and the potatoes are seasoned perfectly. The mocha was so-so. It is a bit noisy with some sort of persistent mechanic humming noise (HVAC, perhaps?), and upbeat music that is just loud enough you'll have to speak up if you are eating with anyone (although I didn't mind the music, and found it energizing with my breakfast). I overheard some people complain about it being too cold inside, but it didn't bother me. (Granted, I am writing this during the summer, so I would hope their heat will be equally vigorous during the winter since the walls consist almost entirely of windows). Had a bit of sticker shock when I rang up, I would say they charge DC prices (a bit over $15, ouch). If the prices were a bit more reasonable and the coffee was a bit better, I would give Community Canteen a solid 4 stars.
