Hands down, fave sushi spot in Raleigh. Calm, authentic and trendy environment. Great spot for a date night or business meeting. Fresh inventory, and quality fish. Order the chirashi - fish has consistency of butter = perfect!
Xoxo
I've been going to Waraji Japanese Restaurant since they opened in the late 90's. Consistently one of the best if not the best sushi restaurants in central NC if not the state. If you want authentic, top notch sushi this is the place.
This restaurant had been saved in my to-do list for far too long, and we finally made it here for dinner last Saturday. They had a wait time of about 30 minutes, so we checked in and opted to sit at the sushi bar while waiting for a table. After enjoying a Volunteer roll at the bar, we were moved to a table where we relished a Matcha Love alongside Stuffed Jalapeños, a Guacamole roll, and a Scary Jerry roll. The cocktail was extremely good, and the sushi was excellent! Our server was attentive, too.
Highly recommend visiting! Can't wait to be back.
This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Raleigh!
I consider myself a bit of a sushi snob from my time in Asia, and this restaurant hits the spot for me. The fish is very high-quality and they make good sushi rice. This restaurant is not your average sauce-drenched roll place!
My go-to order is always the chirashi bowl.
Our neighborhood restaurant. Since the new owner, we were somewhat hesitant, but no - keeping same good.
We came on Wednesday evening and everything was fresh and very tasty.
Also this time we even had a dessert - green tea cheese cake. Was superb.

Alan was an excellent server, he is friendly and very helpful! Our experience was great, the sushis are delicious! My husband LOVED the beer. it was one of the first restaurants that serve very cold beer! If you want to try a new restaurant of sushi you definitely need to try Waraji!

Wonderful cuisine! 😊
I decided to celebrate my birthday with a unique dining experience. Waraji did not disappoint. Started with such a pretty drink(9-tail fox). (So pretty that I had to dine indoors because a bee thought the exact same thing and landed on the flower 🤣). I ordered the Wagyu(and I’m absolutely NOT a beef person), Regular Sashimi(chef’s choice), AND GREEN TEA TIRAMISU 😋😋😋
Lovely atmosphere as well! So impressed with the freshness of the sushi, the texture and flavours of everything. Most kind regards to the chef and staff.
🍣 If you're in North Carolina, there's a fantastic place to enjoy sushi! 🌸 It's a hidden gem that offers a wonderful sushi dining experience. 🍱 The flavors are exquisite, the presentation is artful, and the ambiance is delightful. 🍣🎋
Really enjoyed my dinner here. Portions are generous and everything was tasty. Excellent seaweed salad! Extensive Sake list but lacking in sushi roll offerings (no Rainbow Roll). M sushi is still my favorite sushi in the triangle.
First time here, but I’m a huge fan. I got the sushi appetizer (5 nigiri chef’s choice), yakitori skewer, spider roll, and unagi nigiri (eel).
The sushi appetizer I thought had too much wasabi in each nigiri, but the rest made up for it. The spider roll was fun to look at and tasty. The unagi (eel) nigiri was really good. It’s one of the better eel I’ve gotten.
Overall I would recommend and will come back the next time I’m in town.
My boyfriend and I come to this establishment for all of our special occasions, because we just can’t get enough of all the excellent food and drinks! There’s always something safe and familiar, yet delicious and excellently prepared for his less exploratory palette, and something new and exciting for my foodie tastes!
Their menu always has their staples, like flavorful gyoza, delicious and fresh sushi, excellent appetizers like karaage chicken and agedashi tofu, and crispy pork katsu, but they also add new seasonal dishes on occasion, like the sukiyaki they added for New Years. Right now they’ve got takoyaki in, which I’ve been dying to try but didn’t have room in my stomach for this past evening, so I’ll have to come back and get a serving… or two!
As for their drinks, they’ve always been great, but I believe they just opened up their full bar, and so their menu has expanded. There’s now a ton of great new stuff to try, and the two cocktails I had over St. Patrick’s day weekend were delicious! I’m not a beer or sake person myself on their own, but I’ve been informed their selection is excellent and there are great options to pair with your meal.
This is my favorite restaurant in Raleigh. Probably my favorite restaurant on this side of the country, to be honest.
