Very delicious and fresh seafood! You can't go wrong in Portland with seafood but we had some fantastic sushi and various other yummy dishes at Miyake. The 4 course Omakasa was a great way to get a variety of dishes!
What an absolute great experience this trip has been! The food was upscale, decadent, and full of mouthwatering deliciousness! The variety of the dishes were unexpected, well thought out, and exceptional. We got the chance to sit at the bar area, beside the chefs preparing the dishes. It was equivalent to dinner and a show. I feel spoiled and fear no other place can or will compare...guess I just need to go again to treat myself! Until I come back....wait for me!!
Really high quality food, small portions, and expensive. If you're prepared for that experience, then it's a great time. Watching the chefs prepare the dishes at the sushi bar was impressive! Was content splitting a 4 course meal with my girlfriend.
Everything was perfect. We had a few nigiri to start (oro tuna, uni and foie gras), then the lunch special consisting of Miso soup (or salad) and between me and my wife we ordered the crispy swordfish belly and truffled tuna tartare to start, and for entrée we both had the lobster, scallop and crab hamayaki.
Very good value from their omakase experience. My husband got the sake pairing as well which he was very pleased with. Service is attentive and the vibe is classy/cool. Make sure to reserve in advance and try to grab a seat at the bar to see the chefs in action!
I lived in NH seacoast area and often looking for great Japanese restaurant around. But sadly i haven’t found any good Japanese restaurant imo around my area, perhaps not even in Boston (ramen restaurants do not count). Then I found miyaki when randomly browsing on google map and decided to give it a try.
We had an amazing experience there and really enjoyed the food. Unlike some other Japanese restaurant, the interior of miyaki is very well decorated. They use Japanese style chopstick which has very thin tips, it is designed to clip nigiri and sashimi easier. I choose 4 courses dinner and add a extra dish to it, all dishes are truly amazing. My favorite is the Tuna Three Ways, with regular tuna sashimi, minareted tuna, and tuna mixed with avocado. I also recommend the high-toro nigiri (aka fattest tuna belly) if you do like raw fish, I didn’t have a chance to try it since I was so full after finishing 5 dishes so I will definitely go back for it.
It is pricey there, I spent 100 dollars including tips, but l am glad to spend money on good food. There are also cheaper choice such as dinner bento and regular 4 courses that cost you much less.
This is one of the top 5 meals I have had anywhere in the world. Sit at the sushi bar, order the Omakase, and prepare to be blown away. I wish there were more than 5 stars.
