I recently visited Hello India in Portland's Hawthorne Street and was thoroughly impressed with my dining experience. The atmosphere was welcoming and the decor was charming, with traditional Indian accents adding to the overall ambiance of the restaurant.
The menu had a great selection of dishes, ranging from classic curries to more innovative creations. I opted for the Malabar Chicken curry and the Lamb Bhuna - the spices were perfectly balanced and the chicken and lamb were cooked to perfection. The portion size was also generous, leaving me feeling satisfied but not overly stuffed. In addition to the fantastic food, the service was top-notch.

This family owned indian restaurant offers Very nice service and friendly staff. Food was good - especially the saag paneer and aloo gobi.
Usually order takeout. Always fresh and tasty. They even write a handwritten note to thank me. Sometimes add free Rice pudding dessert. It’s all about the simple details that get most appreciated. And have me repeatedly eat here.
The most AMAZING Indian food experience in all of Portland! Absolutely incredible and outstanding customer service. A special thank you to Raj who was very kind along with his entire team. The owner was EXTREMELY kind and patient, he kept the restaurant open longer for us to finish our food. We will be coming back in every week!
I'm not sure what has happened in the past with this restaurant but I went here with one of my close friends. They had music playing at an appropriate level. Great customer service. The food was also great! They have the option of how spicy you want the food which is nice. The overall vibe is nice. The prices are also good. I walked in and thought it was going to be expensive. Its a great spot for lunch also. I'll definitely be going here again. 😊
We weren't sure if it was open for dining in because the door had boards over it and the window had a crack. Turns out there was a break in and it just hadn't been fixed yet, but was definitely open for dining. We ordered the vegetable samosa (which are excellent!!), garlic naan and some chicken korma. Everything was sooo good and the service was also great. We'll be back, best Indian food I've had in Portland
Absolutely amazing, food was made fresh, perfect flavor. Just the right spice, rice was textured absolutely perfect. Lentil soup was so much better than expected. I loved the lamb vindaloo, I was sad the masala tea was out.
Food was delicious. First time having indian food and the taste was packing with flavors. Wouldve been 5 star but the guy was being very persistant that we pay in cash.
Everything about our experience was wonderful: food, service, atmosphere, all lovely! We came here on a whim because our original plans fell though but we were so pleased to have gotten to try Hello India instead. I will definitely be returning.
First of all Mike is very friendly. He knows how to attend to customers and meet their expectations. The food? Tastes so good. I’m definitely coming back
