We placed a catering order for pies for our daughter's wedding reception that was held in October. The pies were to be delivered to the venue in the mid-afternoon but due to some unforeseen issues, the pies did not arrive until just a few minutes prior to the meal. I was assured from the moment I walked in to the reception venue that it was being handled, and it was. The pies were beautiful, all of them delicious and very fresh. No issues whatsoever with the quality of the ingredients or taste, etc. We had ordered 7 different varieties and it was hard to choose a favorite! I would like to especially thank Jenn, the Portage store manager, for going above and beyond with this particular situation and our pie order. Some things happen that you just can't control; people are human beings, life happens and sometimes things don't go exactly as planned. We did appreciate that Jenn ensured that the pies arrived in time for the reception as originally planned. Thank you!
I’m from Texas but each time that I visit Portage or Kalamazoo with my daughter we stop by Traverse City Pie Company to purchase their pastries. We usually buy the key lime pie and some other type of pastries but this time was different. We were very disappointed. The filling was extra thick and gritty. My daughter contacted the manager and she offered to replace the key lime pie with a lemon meringue pie. That pie was thick and gritty too. Tasted like artificial instant pudding. I don’t know if they have switched bakers or distributors but they were horrible. I think this is something they need to look into.
Stopped here for lunch because I was "feelin like pie" I had a sandwich/soup combo. The turkey reuben sandwich was HEAVENLY! I was so full from lunch I had to take my berry pie home with me and ended up eating it for breakfast the next day. The pie was scrumptious straight out of the refrigerator.
The cashier was friendly but could use some work on appearance and hygiene as a front of the house employee. I'm not trying to be critical here but this kid had greasy, tossled hair and looked like he rolled straight out of bed.
This place is Panera with pie, lots of pie. I would definitely stop if I was back in the area.
Excellent service and nice ambiance for this food level. Upgrade from typical fast food chains similar to Panera. They have soups, salads, sandwiches. Pies outstanding

I hadn't had GTP in 20 years and it was just as good as I remembered! Chicken Pot Pie is a must try for everyone and it had been a long time so that's what I got. I also had the blueberry apple cherry pie, there is no better. I brought home a lemon blueberry silk pie slice and a mini cherry pie, there are no regrets with any of my purchases. I will be back. I can't wait to try every pie! Thank you to the wonderful staff as well.
Lovely decor, with some hideaway booths and corners. Ordering food was easy, but I had to wait in line a bit. Currently I am dieting, so I asked for a list of calories, and they've got a massive nutrient guide with all kinds of information! I was attending an informal meeting (planning while eating pie works nicely!) and our group had a well-lit gorgeous large table with plenty of room for food and paperwork. I don't know if this is a regular thing or not, but I noticed there was no background music playing. It was conducive to a peaceful meeting. It was overall a very pleasant experience.
The salad, chicken pot pie, and the strawberry rhubarb pie... I enjoyed every last bite! The service was fast, friendly, and the price was pretty good for as much food as you get! I wish we lived in Kalamazoo because I would come get strawberry rhubarb pie every day for the rest of my life.
I have probobly diven by this place countless times but had never been here. We decided to go for lunch. I was surprised to see so many pies. The place was clean to begin with and the staff was very courteous. We got grill cheese and BLT. The food was delicious. Pumkin bread was great too. Ham quiche was really good as well. Their combo is really bank for the buck can't wait to try their other food.
We have been coming to Michigan for about 10 years. Our son was about 1.5 y/o he is now 11 and we make it to Michigan and most of all GTPC! The Ham & Havarti sandwich is my wife's favorite and mine is the Chicken Cherry Salad. Of course, we both LOVE the Cherry Crumb Pie! Nothing beats it!
Was gifted a wonderful Apple Pie! Apples were fresh and perfect cooked, crust was moist and flavorful. Can't wait to try more.
