Probably my favorite cheesesteak in the area. I try to make a point to hit up Barry’s when I pass through!
I've eaten a lot of cheesesteaks around the country and this is one of the best. Not greasy good meat flavor and the use of actual real cheese made it instantly one of my favorites
Everyone will have an opinion on which place has the best steak sandwich.
That being said, their Cheesesteak with Cooper Sharp cheese is by far the best steak sandwich I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot of cheese steaks.
I can't even think about getting a cheese steak anywhere else.
I also enjoy their sides, from fries to their corn nuggets.
Employees are extremely friendly, all around you'll enjoy your decision to support this local Philly treasure.
This is a delicious cheesesteak place! Barry has been cooking cheesesteaks for over 50 years so he knows what he's doing! Their onion rings are amazing! Their private label sodas are great. I highly recommend it 👌 👍
Great steaks, just tried the "Alpine steak." It was fantastic. Also had great cheese fries, and the house made sodas are delicious.
Great atmosphere, really friendly staff, seats available at lunch time -and- parking lot adjacent, parked for a buck!
(Some internet listings say 'cash-only. But they were taking credit cards as of Oct 2022, I used VISA)
Oh heck yes this was amazing cheesesteak. Friendly staff that really knows their stuff and the smell!!! Oh man the smell the moment you walk in!!!! Yes please I want more.
First time going here was yesterday to meet for like a work lunch meeting. Laid back, typical steak shop vibe - the guy we know & was meeting with is a regular at Barry's. I opted for the regular sized Chicken Cheesesteak Hoagie (fried not raw onions) w/ American and mayo. The chicken was chopped like chicken steak versus the chicken chunks and I surprisingly did like it that way. It was a perfect size and I ate all of it.
Would recommend checking them out. If I was in the area again, I would order from them again.
Outstanding dinner tonight. After a neighbor recommended trying this place we were sold. We got a cheesesteak, southwest turkey hoagie and some sort of fried broccoli with cheese. So many great flavors. The bread was also fresh and chewy. Prices were normal. Glad I got the normal size so I have some extra to eat tomorrow.
Barry's offers a great change-of-pace steak shop in Roxborough. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and the interior has a long bar for patrons to eat in and enjoy their meal.
I got the cheesesteak with American, fried onions, and hot peppers with their own black cherry soda to wash it down. The steak was very good and the soda hit the spot. I would say it is on par with some of the more popular or chubbier competitors in the area.
Local friends have been talking about Barry's as a bit of a lesser known secret to get cheesesteaks. I finally gave it a try and have been twice so far. First time, the Alpine: steak with Swiss cheese and a brown gravy. It was ok, flavor was good, a little short on the gravy with could have used a little more seasoning/salt (just my opinion.) We got a bunch of sides.
Second time, I went for a more traditional steak: fried onions, peppers, American cheese, and ketchup. Very solid! Onions and peppers were fried up just right adding a bit of sweetness. I also got the chicken tenders which were really good, plus split a side of mozzarella sticks (5 per order is a little skimpy), and fries (they're like a steak fry, large size side, and just enough salt for me.) Definitely will be sharing the recommendation to get a steak from here.
Barry's is my favorite cheesesteak in the neighborhood! Super quick delivery, great staff & consistently delicious food...my go to is "The Coop" and a side of curly cheese fries. 😋
Philadelphians will argue almost to the death in favor of their favorite cheesesteak places. IMO Barry's Steaks has the hands-down best cheesesteaks in the East Falls & Roxborough areas. More meat & cheese than Chubby's & way less salt than Delesandro's.
