This is just like we left it. Same great staff, same grill, same methods. A few updates to the menu, but if I'm not mistaken, the prices are the same as they were four years ago. Perfectly chopped, cooked and seasoned meat. Amoroso roll kisses the grill, but doesn't get toasted. WORLD CLASS onions. There will be a line, but it moves PRETTY quickly. Also fun to chat with the folks in line. There are still some opening glitches (bring cash just in case.)

The day time staff is great. The hoagie girl during the day tho, she has a bit of an attitude, mostly just stands around watching the cashier and wrapper doing all the work. The cashier who works during the day, she is great. Pleasant, great customer service, always helping, and has a smile on her face. Cooks are great, not too keen on the chicken cheesesteak. The way I heard management talking to a couple of the workers was uncalled for. They were busting their tails off, sweating, bagging, wrapping, getting drinks, chips, and they just treat certain workers horribly. Everytime I'm in there I see it happening. I asked about the day cashier a couple days ago, because I haven't seen her, and the guy told me she quit because of the way she was being treated. She was one of the best employees they had. They need to get her back!

It is a great place for a cheese steak, there is on street parking, and it is pretty fast pace, and there will be a line. The workers are great and sandwiches are Good, it is in a rough area but it is worth the drive. They have beautiful fresh steak, and there is outside security and they are very friendly and helpful this is a need to go place

I've been waiting years for this place to open. I tried a cheesesteak hoagie from Dalessandro's. They put the lettuce & tomatoes on top so you know when I went to eat it, it wad all falling off. Couldn't find a decent Cheesesteak in Philly. I couldnt. I came to west Philly from germantown in 1988, I was 24 yrs old, im 59yrs old now. This place fed an active young lady who had been sheltered in the church most of her childhood. I was finally free. I believe God put ppl in your path for a reason. I wasn't a good cook. Boiling bags & can food but when the weekend came, it was Jim's. I got the same sandwich every single time just like tonite. An american cheesesteak hoagie with sautéed bell peppers & mushrooms & fried onions with ketchup & relish, thats it. When I played hooky from work with my gf, this was the place. It was special, coming thru the doors made me smile, the workers made me smile because they were my neighbors. I'm getting chills just thinking about the older ladies that worked here. I ate good because they cooked good steaks. However way you want it, just tell them, they will do their best to accommodate you. Welcome back, you have been terribly missed. ❤️❤️⚘️

2nd time having a cheesesteak from Jim's West. My husband, Cousin Cortez Johnson is the co- owner of this establishment. Food & Customer Service is Awesome. Will be trying a chicken cheesesteak & hoagie soon, InShallah. Even though the wait outside is long, it's well worth the wait. IMO

Consistently great steaks! If you like extra spicy just ask. The spice definitely creeps up on you!

Steak was just ok, nothing special... service was unorganized and slow, line was long and moved slow...no seating area ..place has potential just needs some organizing...not the worst steak but not the best

Oh my goodness, my cheesteak was fantastic! You get to watch your sandwich being made and that visual with the aroma will send your senses on overload. When we finally settled into taste mode, the experience started off with the perfectly soft baked roll. This foundation allowed the tender and ribeye steak and condiments to blend into a flavorful, scrumptious first bite that craved for more. I had many a steak from the old Jim's at this location, but Jim's West seems to have elevated the taste with a new umami! The owners were there and their presence was comforting and personable, which helped set the tone of appreciation and anticipation that would be worth the wait (people order multiple sandwiches at a time to share the love). We grew up in the neighborhood but are now in NJ. I won't hesitate to return soon. By the way, my hubby got the Kosher Hoagie (no ham or itailians anymore) to try the next day. I forgot to take a pic before we dug in. The Kosher Hoagie was another winner that continued our Philly epicurean delight the next day at home. Mr. Cortez Johnson, we briefly chatted on my way out. I'm am encouraged and inspired by your overcoming, fortitude and persistence. May you and your team continue to walk and work worthily!🔥😋👏🏽🙌🏽

One of the great cheesesteak places is back! Jim's West! I grew up on these! It's a take out place. Simple menu. With or without cheese. lol! Hoagies too. The sandwiches are flavorful with a good portion of meat! Come on in and get it!

Went with my son to our family's favorite cheesesteak shop on Christmas Eve -- Tradition. Greeted by old-time staff and I was happy to be home! Food tastes just as good as it did before they closed a few years ago!!! Was quite happy with my sammich topped with provolone, fried onions, hot peppers, ketchup and black pepper!!! Yum!!! Was excited to get home, sit down with family and in-joy our Christmas Eve tradition. Welcome back Jim's West, you were missed by the many who in-joy great food and services!!! Happy New Year!!! See you soon!!! p.s.. Don't just depend on any reviews, especially bad ones. Go out and gain the experience for yourselves!!! I don't think you'll be disappointed!!!
