Rona has been our favorite since we moved to the Omaha area 10yrs ago!
My friend and I met here on a Monday evening for dinner. We were seated quickly, but we sat for nearly 15 minutes before anyone came by to take our drink order. I would be (sort of) okay with that except for the fact that I made eye contact several times with another server who seemed to just be hanging out/talking to another waiter instead of coming over to take our drink order.
The food, luckily, made up for the severe lack of service. We were satisfied with our dishes and would definitely return if we were craving Mexican food.
Homemade tortillas on site - quite fun to watch as they are made! Food is delicious and service was extraordinary. The complimentary salsa was just ok, would suggest upgrading to the habanero salsa for an extra dollar or possibly adding some queso to your free chips. Everything was very fresh and appealing to the eye.
tequila? what did I say? tequila? Yes I did. Might be the best Selection you can find in Omaha. Huge tequila menu for Omaha. Had the three crispy tacos with rice and beans. Some mexican restaurants the rice and beans have no flavor. Here there tastey. Had a choice.of beef or shredded chicken for the crispy tacos. I got the pulled chicken. Very tasty. One minus, there fried ice cream. Shell tasted funny. The inside was warm in a bad way. In all it was a decent dinning experience.
I've eaten here many times over the last 7 years. Roja is run by the Flagship Restaurant Group which also operates Blue, Blatt, and Plank. They're pretty good at what they do and I enjoy dining in most of their restaurants.
There's two types of experiences to be enjoyed here and so reviews will vary based upon which one of those experiences people partook in. There's the lunch and dinner crowd that's here primarily to eat and then there's the happy hour crowd that stops in with friends or coworkers for margaritas and appetizers. I'm usually in the former group.
I've tried several of their entrées over the years, but I tend to gravitate toward the Gringo Burrito. The red chili they pour on the burrito is awesome. I used to like the Chimichanga, but they went from a single large chimichanga to serving two mini chimichangas and I just don't care for that. Complimentary chips and salsa are good. Chips are fried in house and are tasty. Salsa is just okay. Their yellow queso is very tasty. Food has gone a little downhill the last several years. Not terribly so, but 4 or 5 years ago I would have said the food was "very good" and now I'll just label it as "good."
Service here is always good. Wait staff are attentive and efficient. It's some of the better restaurant wait service you'll get in Omaha.
Restaurant is nice. Trendy and clean. They got rid of their water feature and replaced it with planters. It looks cheap when you know what used to be there. Fireplace never seems to be turned on.
Quick seating during holiday lunch how. Pineapple mojito is fabulous, lime was eh...needs work. Staff was excellent and on top of the table. The only "complaint" I had was the relleno should have been drained better. Tastes delish, tho! Great, fresh guacamole!
Gustatory. Busy, noisy, fun. Good margaritas.
Great Mexican. Awesome margaritas, chips and salsa, guacamole, shrimp alambres, tacos chili rellanos, and enchiladas! Highly recommend!
I've been wanting to try this place ever since we moved here so the family and I went one Sunday afternoon. The food was okay. Ultimately I was pretty disappointed. We may try it again sometime, but when I want Mexican food I know will be good we'll stick with our favorite place, "Margaritas" on 72nd.
We just moved to Omaha from Florida and we noticed this restaurant while driving by. The food was great! Our waitress was amazing. When they heard it was our first time, the manager offered us a free app and it was also yummy. The manager personally came and welcomed us! I would def. recommend this place for a great Mexican meal and Margarita!!
Another disappointment from Flagship Restaurant Group. Roja is yet another disappointment from Flagship group. Typica of Flagship, the servers are RUDE, inattentive, and could care less about serving you. The food is overpriced and mediocre at best, and what should be filled with flavor is bland. Sit at the bar - the bartender will ignore you because he or she is too busy telling everyone how many people they got into bed this weekend. (I kid you not). Ask for something that takes a bit of effort, and you'll get eyes rolling and sighs of annoyance. Just like Blue Sushi, I will NEVER step foot in Roja - and I will never step foot in ANY Flagship restaurant.
Great food and fantastic service! Went here with a group of nine women celebrating a bride-to-be. After our pole dancing party we were ready to relax with a few+ margaritas and good food, and we weren't disappointed. We had a reservation and were seated right on time. Our server was incredibly patient and attentive. She earned her tip on this busy Friday night.
The pulled chicken Flautas are amazing. LOVE the green chilies with the chicken and green chili rice. The prickly pear marg is yummy but a little too sweet for my liking. The spicy margarita (jalapeno) was a big hit with our group.
The atmosphere is fun. Lots of color and cool wooden sculptures everywhere. Overall a great experience!
Went here for a work gathering and had reservations - our server was extremely accommodating and she was perfect the entire time our group was there. The food was absolutely amazing and I managed to finish off my entire meal (which can be hard sometimes).
The only thing that I had a slight issue with is the flooring and chairs - I have sensitive hearing/tinnitus and it was a bit hard to enjoy everything with all of the metal chairs scraping against the almost cement-like flooring and practically echoed throughout the place. Everything else was perfect though!
I'm trying to take advantage of my birthday coupons, and my husband and I went to this location to cash in on my 20% off coupon. We split the chicken and beef fajitas which left us a decent amount of leftovers for the next day. The queso is pretty good, but I keep telling myself I to try their guacamole. Plus, the small portion is small. The chicken & beef fajitas are very flavorful, but I feel they are a little on the pricey side for the amount ($41.99). We sat at the bar, and our server was busy but very friendly. He provided great service for how busy he was.
Good enough, not the biggest fan of their bland, spice-less salsa, but the chicken fajitas aren't too shabby and are pretty much the only reason I go there. The chips are really good when they're warm, though that is maybe 1% of the time and the guacamole is fairly decent. It gets somewhat busy both at lunch and dinner time, but weekend nights can be an hour or more wait. It's best to go between peak times, the food is fresher and the service better.
Update: It seems the cooks just didn't care today. I ordered two shredded chicken tacos. There was a big chunk of chicken (not shredded) in one taco with a bunch of black chewy pieces at the bottom. There was a very small pinch of cheese in each taco and a small pinch of lettuce on the side, nowhere near enough for even one taco. I couldn't eat that chicken. The server was very kind and returned it to the kitchen. Instead I got a fajita chicken quesadilla. All of the chicken and cheese were in the middle lol, it was what it was and tasted fine.
First time visiting and will find the way to come back soon. Service was so amazing and food quality was top notch 👌. It was my birthday and I'm so glad I chose this place to celebrate my special day. I IZZY totally recommended Roja Mexican Grill you won't be disappointed 😋 😁👍
So good! Hubby and I started getting the combo fajitas for two to go during Covid and now its our favorite thing to order in restaurant as well. Enrique was our server and he was great! Plenty of food for both of us and delicious!
Roja is our "Go To" for Mexican Food, and every time we come to Omaha. I really wish they had one in Lincoln, but we come here every time we are in town.
Good food, including vegan options. Service was a bit odd, they forgot the sauce on the burrito and the rice, beans and tortillas for the sizzling plate.
Bottomless chips and salsa!? This place is great!
Entrée portions are generous and I the atmosphere was modern. Service was great as well. No complaints!
Had not been there in many years, and never to the legacy location, very nice setup. Drinks were good, the salsa was really fantastic and the appetizer sampler we got for two was great! Prices were fair and the bartenders were attentive.
