Took my mom & girlfriend here. I'm always looking for great Puerto Rican food in The Bay and La Perla is it. Finally a place to get great empanadillas and arroz con gandules without having to cook it myself.
Definitely worth stopping by.

This place is a gem. Delicious unique food but what makes it truly special is the staff and owner. The owner stops by each table, sees how you're doing, shares tales of his time catering for the Golden state warriors and also his homemade mango habernos sauce (blended with 5 types of habernos). The wait is a bit long but worth it. They also offer catering especially of the tasteles (hope I'm spelling that right! Which are like tamales, wrapped in a leaf)

Food is excellent and the staff is friendly. We showed up for dinner and met the owner, who was playing music right out front. Had a lovely chat with him. Food was delicious, definitely worth checking out.

Saw on the news yesterday about the unfortunate event that occured with the restaurant so I decided to go by because I wanted to patronize and show my support for La Perla and the community. Mr. Ortiz is such a nice and humble man. The food was great! Well beyond my expectations. Hot and fresh. Tried a little bit of everything on the menu and believe me, I wasn't disapointed. Will definitely go again.

La Perla has AMAZING food and great ppl. This family owned business works hard and man does that show in their delicious food. Last time I went I got that pork chop over rice with a side of their sweet plantains. Everything from the sauces to their side salad worked so well together. You will be happy no matter what you get here. Even my teenager is highly upset with me if I visit this place and dont bring him anything back.
A must go!!
