Old Weang Ping

Old Weang Ping is legend. The food is very good, well seasoned, and generously portioned, sure. All of that is true. It is also a magic hideaway where all your dreams are made real. If a centaur appeared, I would not be surprised. If this turns out to be a gateway to Narnia, no one would be shocked. Come for the food, stay for the magic.

I've been having a rotten time trying to visit the Old Weang Ping. For me it's a 15-20 minute walk each way. About 30% of the time they're not open during their posted hours. I've been calling in advance and the phone just hangs up on me after a ring or two each time for the past few months. Today after three calls from my cell phone, I tried from my school desk phone and they answered! I went and told the lady there and she said that they didn't hang up on me. I called from my phone and heard it ring in the restaurant and told the lady that was my number and her eyes rolled. I just left and plan never to return. Don't know what's up. I've always been polite, tipped, never anything other than yes please and no thank you. Not sure what's up but I'm done with them. The food is good. But not worth wasting an entire lunch break without getting lunch each time or being hung up on every time I call from my cell.

This is a family run business - the mom and dad cook and the daughter is the waitress. Food is really good - very homey! I loved their red curries and also the pad thai. We also tried a couple of other dishes - all good! They also had a great COVID protocol. It’s also great to wander around the little space - sort of has a magical, fantasy feel to it.
