Small Wonder

Great food. Great atmosphere. The place is rather spacious, but there is a lot of space between tables, so you're able to have a private meal if needed. However, you're still able to hear any stand-up comic or performance if that's what you've come for. Be sure to check out their specials for any tacos.

Wonderful little place! The front is covered in thriving plants. The interior has an uncluttered eclectic feel to it. There are two unisex and spacious bathrooms with probably the coolest sink I've ever seen. It's like a big bowl basin with shower heads above and handles to the side. You turn the handles and wash your hands under the falling water (which is at the perfect temperature, by the way) and then dry off using one of their freshly cleaned fabric towels. The food is delicious. I ordered tne fish tacos and would again if not for the fact that I want to try everything else. The staff is friendly and it almost feels like family. On Wednesdays they have live music, and it was the perfect volume - loud enough to hear, but not so loud you had to shout to be heard. There's upstairs and downstairs seating. You better believe I will be coming back because this place was just too cool.

Really interesting place. The decor is really cool. It's loud in there though and people come here after work to drink and stand in a group. Not much space to walk around. You pay before you sit, and some of the seats are in difficult to get to places. They have Gluten Free options which is a plus and the flavors of the dishes are good. I probably won't go back again unless it's a live music night because that hopefully means everyone is sitting and not talking loudly over each other. It was a bit overwhelming and overstimulating with the noise and decor and crowdedness. I really liked their music choices with funk and soul.

My fave place in Oakland to hang out on Friday nights - ** LIVE MUSIC ** by the Dewayne Oakley Blues Ensemble (trumpet, guitar, bass, drums) every Friday 7-10pm. No cover, just well-priced, inventive food & drinks served in an eclectic, cozy setting with a ton of different seating choices + plenty of hot sauce for your fish tacos.
