Very American Diner. We ate breakfast two days there. The service is good (waitress remembered us and what we liked to drink the second day) and the food is cheap and hot. I won't say it's great food - the biscuit was not fluffy - but the gravy was tasty. Eggs were fine. Bacon was fine. They made my hash browns extra crispy as I requested. I'd eat there again.
Great food. Definitely not good for you, but really good food.
After reading reviews, I tried to stay away as long as possible, but I finally gave in and the good was good. Service sucked, but I was prepared for it. It was pretty cheap, too. If you're looking for above classy place to dine, this ain't it, but if you're looking for that city hot dog stand type ambience with some good ol down home American food, that'd be it.
Cant complain about the food one bit! The service though, theres alot that can be done there. I like the place otherwise.
Great hangover cure! Worst service in greasy spoon history.
This was a tough one. When you knowingly eat a greasy spoon, you have set your expectations accordingly. We did get large portions of decent tasting food at a good price, and our server was friendly and competent. Unfortunately, our food arrived in dribs and drabs over forty minutes, the menu was difficult to decipher, and the place needed a thorough cleaning. Half our party liked the place, and the other half did not. Tie goes to restaurant.
Good food, Great guy. The food is good, the atmosphere is great, and the owner can't be beat. He is a great supporter of the military, last year during my Chief Induction Frank showed up early to give all Selectees, after his donation to our Mess what amounted to a free meal and a great memory in my Induction period. Class act!!

Military Heritage. Franks Place in Oak Harbor is very proud of its Military theme. The food is great, Frank is friendly most of the time. If you like "greasy spoon" type places, and you don't mind that the seats in your booth are car seats, this is a place for you. Check out the memorial out front!
I loved this place! Nice warm hometown feeling as soon as you walk in. The owner Frank is super friendly, very down to earth and genuine.
I had the chicken n waffles with a side of home fries and it did not disappoint. Can’t wait to go back again and try something different. Drop a pin on this place.

Franks place was fantastic, breakfast tasted just like someone made me breakfast at home. Frank runs the show with efficiency and I’m sure could care less about reviews which makes it that much better. For a liberal leaning Seattlite I absolutely love the reminder from Frank about our military and our country. The little American flags with our breakfast on 4th of July weekend topped it off. Will definitely be going back!
Great place with friendly service and an awesome environment.
Burgers are only average, but it looks like they really specialize in breakfast (served anytime).
Nostalgic and veteran “memory lane” atmosphere. Breakfast was great! Served very timely. Felt like I was back in the galley with my military family. Met Frank (Owner)and Mr Peeples (veterans). Thanks for making us feel at home”.
Hands down one of the best breakfast spots we've tried within the area to include Seattle and Tacoma. Very military and veteran focused restaurant. They have lots of menu options for breakfast to include some Hawaiian favorites such as Loco Moco and Siamin. The portions are huge and the service was great. You do need to wait a bit for your order since they only have a couple people running the restaurant. Great food for the value and awesome ambience. Highly recommend.
Uncle Frank is the best! The place is filled military and family oriented memories. There's a pool table some 8 track tapes and even a Galaga machine to play for free while you wait.
To say the food was delicious world be an understatement! It was made with love and we enjoyed every bit of it. See you again soon Uncle Frank!

If I could rate this higher I would. My picky niece ate ALL OF her JR8. my sister stated, "waffles are fluffy, bacon is cooked to my liking, eggs are fluffy...I like this place!" My food was basic yet delicious!!
Just an FYI...The big sign on the side of the building for takeout with the even larger OPEN side...that door is NOT a separate entrance for takeout orders only.
We stopped in midweek on our way to the ferry. We enjoyed both our food and talking to Frank. The kitschy collection of military memorabilia is a must see (very patriotic)
Flew in from Ft. Worth and made a mad dash to Frank's. The wheat toast was worth the trip alone. However, the devilled eggs stole the show. Amazing service and very cool atmosphere. Can't wait for the next trip.
The navy/marine's atmosphere makes this restaurant a lovely, special place! Haven't really enjoy such an American-style, country-like brunch in a while, comparing with those in the cities. Would definitely recommend this place if you want to try something old-fashioned!
