For far too long has there only been one Orange County teppanyaki spot that everyone seems to flock to, but thanks to Wasa Sushi & Teppan there is finally a much better option. I guess if you enjoy teenagers and birthday parties, then you can still go to Benihana. On the other hand, if you enjoy a more sophisticated version of this popular style of cooking without the gimmicks and with a top notch menu then you will love this new Orange County teppanyaki restaurant.
Excellent small scale sushi restaurant. It's everything I want in a neighborhood strip-mall sushi spot. Very fresh fish with a nice rotating menu of exotic fish. Friendly chefs not afrai to recommend something or have a beer while they're working. It's clean. Also I highly recommend the Spanish mackerel sashimi

Great sushi but a little on the pricey side.
10/10 would visit again for Wasa's service, ambiance, taste and presentation of dishes. Had a nice set meal teppanyaki with Chef David. The staff was very personable and all the dishes presented tasted great. Would highly recommend the seafood appetizers and definitely attend a teppanyaki dinner when here.
Definitely the best Japanese restaurant in Newport! The food is authentic and plentiful. The staff always greets me as I arrive to pick up my order, and the waiters are polite and friendly. The atmosphere is high class and has good vibes. 5 stars!
Great place for family, group, and even date nights. Sushi and/or Teppanyaki Grill. Recommend reservation for teppanyaki.

Solid sushi experience near UCI. Every sushi piece was fresh and tasty. One had caviar and another had some spicy chili crisps. I would come back for lunch any day. Make sure to order the sushi treasure with Wasabi sour cream. Best thing on the menu.
This place is terrific! Great sushi for the price! I love their sushi samplers instead of getting 2 pieces. Toro is super fresh. David is the friendliest dude and super great about requests. Ask for his crispy chili sauce, it’s the best!
This is my new favorite sushi bar in Orange County. The staff is extremely friendly. I like to,sit at the sushi bar. I get to see the fish up close. I like to read the specials off the board. Everything is extremely fresh and beautifully served. They also have a full bar in the event you want to come a little earlier and enjoy a cocktail.
This place has very good sushi. It's always fresh and the presentation is very good. The sushi chefs are top notch and the servers are friendly. After coming to this place a lot they already know what we like to order and will just start bringing out the sushi. If you have a bigger group for lunch you can ask to be seated in the dinning room area.
Stopped by because our friend and sushi chef Yuta invited us over. Great place, friendly staff, and delicious food. Grabbed a few drinks and sushi rolls and it all came out fantastic. Met the owner Bronnie and he was very friendly. Will stop by again when I am back in town.

Great sushi place. They have lunch specials. It's kind of pricey but no different from other Japanese restaurants around here. The sushi and sashimi are good as well as their rice dishes. They have some interesting dishes like fried soft shell crab which is delicious. They have a sushi bar as well as 2 sit down areas. Although expensive, the ambiance is relaxed and casual. I would recommend.
