Mama D's Italian

I enjoyed dining here; the food and service were excellent and well worth the hour wait. I had the manicotti with pink sauce. It was very good but I think I should have had the marinara sauce or meat sauce with it instead of the pink sauce. The spaghetti was good, too. The complimentary cheese ravioli with marinara was delicious, as were the complimentary warm chocolate chip cookies. I’ll absolutely order the cheese ravioli next time! The service and extremely friendly staff were the best! I’ve never experienced such friendly people and employees! The only negative issue was how loud it was inside. The voices really carry and a lot of people were talking loudly. Nobody seemed to care, though, and it appeared that everyone was having a great time! But I could barely have a conversation because we couldn’t hear each other. There’s building materials that could be installed to absorb some of the sound, but then the ceilings wouldn’t be near as cool and attractive. I’m looking forward to going back for more yummy food! I can handle the noise. The food and staff are worth it!

Amazing! If you’re in New Port looking for an Italian restaurant this is a must stop. Everything was so tasty and fresh. Service was top notch and the restaurant itself was charming and unique. Pink sauce is a MIST TRY!

I stopped by Mama Ds on Monday evening 9/11 with partner. We heard of this place from a Chef friend of ours who opened this restaurant back in the 2000s with Chef Roberto. I can say I was not disappointed at all. The ladies at the front were very attentive, and our server Kayden(Kaydan?, sorry don’t know how to spell it) was extremely personable. I was a server for 6 years and he was the type of server I would have new servers train with because he was extremely professional, courteous, and personable. He does something that most servers don’t do and he got down on his knee to speak to us at eye level. It was our first time and we already had a good impression from the girls up front to our server. I ordered the Baked ricotta stuffed eggplant with the pink sauce which our sever recommended. My partner got a Baked ricotta stuffed pasta shell dish with the pink sauce as well. It was good quality food and was very filling, but not overly filling like most Italian restaurants are. The prices for some entrees were a bit exorbitant, which I didn’t understand as the ingredients are expensive. I was interested in dessert but they only carry Tiramisu which was disappointing, Italian restaurants are known for their sweets and was hoping for more of a selection. Overall, I would recommend coming here for a date night or a small family outing. The restaurant is on the smaller side, and the parking situation is awful, but you can find street parking for pretty cheap.

Incredible service. We visited on 12/8/23 and were served by Josh L (server) and Kevin (host). The team provided exceptional care and made the dining experience a delight. We haven’t had service this food at a restaurant in a long time. Food - I come from an Italian family and can genuinely say Mama D has something special. Their standard sauce is delicious. The house bread is great and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Family Italian restaurant in the area. Very good pasta. In particular, love their pink sauce and marinara sauces. Too bad no reservation accepted, the wait is a bit long.
