Calm and modern atmosphere, dishes are fresh and tasty. We had several sushi and grilled salmon. Brussel sprout fries are great. The restaurant is in Fashion Island and there are plenty of parking spaces around. After spending the day shopping, Sushi Roku can be the way to finish it off
Roku has become one of my absolute go-to sushi restaurants. The deluxe sushi platter is fantastic and at $50, it’s not crazy for how much you get. My wife and I go and will each get one and maybe an appetizer like the calamari or one of their specialty rolls, which are fantastic.
It can get quite packed but usually will have room to walk in for lunch. Dinner I’d recommend a reservation.
Parking is a mess but there is plenty of it if you are willing to walk because Fashion Island is ringed by a huge parking lot. The rest of Fashion Island is nice to walk around afterwards or you could obviously go right down to the beach.
I ate here with a date and overall it was a decent meal. My date really enjoyed her sushi plate. My salmon plate was meh. Salmon was kind of dry, vegetables were undercooked, and potatoes were alright. We got a couple Sapporo on tap which complimented the meal well. Restaurant is expensive compared to other sushi places. If my Salmon plate was better I would not have minded the price.
A great relaxing place, loved the atmosphere and all. We sat on their couches section and it was amazing. Being super comfortable, enjoying great food and lovely waiters. All the sushi was great, no time limit to how long you can stay as well. If you like sushi and a great dining experience, this is the place to go to. Located on the outer side of Fashion Island, parking is easy and many other stores around too.
Sushi Roku is amazing. The food, the atmosphere, the people… absolutely fantastic. Our busboy Daniel did his job amazingly — he’s a man of many talents. He is a very nice guy and even took our picture when we asked. He was such a good busboy that we mistook him for a waiter! Very great service. Our waitress, Nicole, was also amazing and did everything we asked 100%. I think Sushi Roku may be my new favorite restaurant. I will be back.
What a delightful restaurant. I’m not too crazy about sushi, but I must admit, this restaurant made a sushi lover out of me. Absolutely delicious fresh variety, beautiful setting and wonderful servers. Looking forward to visiting this great restaurant again.
Trendy Japanese chain restaurant located in the Newport Fashion Island Center. Came here in a group of 10 and had a reservation beforehand. We were told that we have a 90 minute time limit at the table but since it took some time to place our order/get our food, we did have some seating time over it. Free ample parking.
We split the appetizers family-style and ordered our own entrees. Some notable appetizers included the shishito peppers, popcorn shrimp, and Karaage chicken. Dishes can be made vegetarian (like the fried rice). There are gluten free options. I split the deluxe sushi combo and a couple of white lotus rolls, and I was super full. For dessert, we had some ice cream mochi.
Indoor seating only. Credit cards accepted. Restrooms available past the kitchen. The vibe was a bit clubby and there were quite a few celebrations happening there.
I had heard about this place a few years back and was recommended by a colleague in college to try this place out. Years later I finally went for the first time and I must say, this place really lived up to my colleague’s recommendation.
For it being my first time at sushi Roku, I really can’t find a fault in my experience there. From the initial walk-in, the place looks clean and stylish, very picturesque decor.
The service was great, our host/server was very knowledgeable of the menu and highly on point with the service and the timing/frequency of checking in. The type of enthusiasm and service you’d expect from a higher end establishment but rarely ever get and so her professionalism and enthusiasm was very refreshing (sadly did not get her name to give her proper credit)
Now on to the food. I don’t think the word “WOW” does it Justice. But I’m just going to say WOW. Our sushi chef ROY, is without a doubt a masterful artist of his craft. I have never been so well taken care of at a restaurant before. The chef checked in constantly to make sure every delicately crafted and delicious course of food was to my liking and man he did not disappoint. Not only did the plates of food look like works of art but they tasted as good as they looked. I could go on and on about how amazing the chef was and how exquisite his food was and so I will leave the food as just “WOW”.
All in all, definitely look forward to going back, highly would recommend this place for a nice dinner outing
Spicy miso and shoshito peppers were both amazing apps. And the sushi rolls were fresh and well crafted. I'll be back.
Nothing less than Perfection, here! Tender melt in your mouth Wagui beef. Tops in garlic roasted green beans. Smooth salmon and amber jack sushi. Even the water was good. Always the perfect presentation. My friend complained that it was expensive for the small portions but once in while you gotta treat yourself. I'll be back.
