I recently traveled to New Orleans from. VIRGINIA and someone recommended Barrow's as one of the places I must try when I asked about eating some good food. Listen, the food is amazing; however this review is about the service. The day I went, there was a Garth Brooks concert and other events happening. EXTREMELY hectic and busy time. The man who greeted me at the door was wearing many hats that day, (greeter, server, bar tender etc) and it was high stress but he maintained his professionalism, never lost his cool, and still made my experience wonderful. Unfortunately, staff had called out on a holiday weekend. I just want to say thank you and send words of encouragement to this young man and the establishment. Although things were not perfect, you gave me a wonderful experience and I was proud to see a black owned establishment make even the toughest time work and with grace and professionalism. I would recommend Barrow's Catfish on Poydras to everyone. It's clean, great service, and amazing food!!!! Can't wait to come back. Btw, my grandmother who had a stroke and is in the nursing home loved it. I had to take her a plate after I left the restaurant. Her face lit up and she was soooo happy. Thank you again.

In town for a conference and found this gem while looking for seafood by the Hyatt Regency. This is a MUST to stop by for any visitors in NOLA!!! Beautifully plated food with excellent taste. If you like a little kick in your food, you have to try the potato salad. Freshly made and oh so delicious!!! Excellent customer service and amazing food! Don’t be fooled by google maps, this location on Poydras next to chick-fil-a is OPEN!

This place was awesome. I could not believe how authentic the food was. I had the lamb chops, which was special for that day. They were so delicious. My sister had the catfish. Did I mention that they give a large portion. Make sure you try the K J crab claws. So delicious. I can’t wait to return back to New Orleans just to eat here.

My boyfriend and I were passing through New Orleans and we decided to stop and eat here. I ordered the crab and shrimp pasta which the waitress suggested, but it wasn’t on the menu yet and he ordered the catfish platter. Everything was absolutely amazing. From the atmosphere, to the service, down to the food. We also ordered a cup of the seafood gumbo which was heavenly. Most definitely a 10/10 restaurant that I would drive all the way to New Orleans to experience again.

I had a fantastic meal here. Saw this restaurant on a list from Eater and decided to try it while in town for work. Had a wonderful experience and was certainly the best food I had while I stayed in New Orleans. The owner came to greet us after our meal and was incredibly friendly and kind. Crab claws were fantastic and the crawfish cheesy pasta was even better. HIGHLY recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed my redfish pasta! The blacked fish and shrimp was a little on the salty side but I still happily stuffed myself. My arnold palmer was sadly really sweet. I sipped and added a whole cup of water as I went and it was still sweet. The corn and crab bisque was great. The catfish and shrimp platter was enough for her to have leftovers but the fried seafood was surprisingly under seasoned in my opinion. Id still return and try another meal when in town.

This place was amazing and so was are server. She was able to describe the dishes well with recommendations. We had the corn chowder, gumbo, and stuffed bell peppers for the appetizers, and for the entrees we had the oysters Poboy and the Cajun pasta. All of it was delicious

I'm a native New Orleans girl. This restaurant was in the next block from where I lived on Mistletoe St. Back then it had the bomb catfish & potato salad. Of course the place was affected by Katrina and may have been displaced when the state ran a highway through that area. It's in a different location but it hasn't affected that back in the day taste I remember 30+ years ago. Right now it's only doing curb side service but it was fairly fast. The food was beautiful to look at, tasty to eat and had extremely satisfying portions. It was worth the trip from the West bank. Wonderful.

Incredible food. We had the charbroiled oysters to warm up, and for my entree I had a poboy, half fried shrimp and the other half fried catfish. For the absolute quality of the food and the amount of food we got it is so worth the price. It was all so good and the service was awesome. We will absolutely be back.

This place was excellent. Stopped by with the hubby and we will be back. The food was fresh, the catfish was fried to perfection, the shrimp (just added to the menu) were perfect. The French fries were the best (thin and delicious). The drinks were strong (carbonated). This a black owned business and I fully support it. The music and the setting is date day perfect.
