Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try after seeing such awesome reviews. The place is definitely a hole-in-the-wall with limited seating ...but in the best way! The food was 5-star fabulous and the chef came to our table and shared his story, a very nice and humble gentleman. I would say, go..go..go!
Ok, this is not just a "chicken joint!" In a city of some of the best food in the country, Heard Dat is one of the best! We almost missed it the place is so small, but we are so glad we didn't! We almost missed our chance to stop by, but wanted to be sure to try it and got our meals to go. Smelled so good, we opened up our boxes in the car to just take a little taste and wound up eating until we were full! Wonderful! We knew this must be somebody's dream for this great food in this small space and I'll be dreaming about this food until I get another chance to return.
My favourite! Honestly, Had the Bourbon Love with chicken and the NOLA with fried fish. These are dishes that I dream of…. Outstanding. Not to be missed for a takeout or grab a picnic table outside.
I am typing as I’m chewing!! Whoever the cool was literally had to put their foot of gold in this plate!!! I got the superdome!!!!! It’s delicious! I also got thr Dat Shyt Fruit Punch and the name is fitting!!! I think they should put wrap on the plates for delivery so the sauce doesn’t spill. 10/10
The wings are amazing! Ordered 6 wings with fries and should have ordered 12 - DAMN good. Highly recommend the Skeesh sauce- it's addicting!
One of my top 5 favorite places. I’ve only ever had the food delivered but it is always seasoned just right- even the sides are delicious. I like getting the fried chicken Dat Plate w/ bread pudding (Thank you for not putting raisins in that btw. 🙏)
I don’t really review anything online but after visiting New Orleans and eating at this place 5 times I had to. This was recommended by my host and was somewhat close to where I was staying. It is nothing much to look at - you would pass it by if you didn’t know. But the food is truly spectacular, delicious and hearty. I miss it already! <3
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in New Orleans! Every time I eat here it is always so good. Definitely a hidden gem. I recommend getting the Bourbon St. or the Super Dome. Honestly anything you get is going to be delicious. The service could be better because it usually takes a while to get my food. If you are in a rush place your order via phone or online. Staff are usually very accommodating though.
This is a hidden gem, hidden well out of the way from the main hustle and bustle of New Orleans French Quarter. The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this place.
The fish, the shrimp, the grits, were all very well prepared and full of flavor. The trip to this place is well worth it!
Flavorful food. Black owned restaurant. This place is where you walk up and you can eat outside or taken it to go. I Loved the mac n cheese and the beet salad. The bbq shrimp fries were yummy. Staff were very kind.
Stopped by and had dinner and it was fantastic. You order from a window inside, and we sat outside on the picnic tables and ate. We got fish/shrimp over grits with a cream sauce, shrimp and grits with corn, crawfish fries and bread pudding. They also have a tea/punch drink which is really nice since the fish was sorta spicy! Everything tasted really great and was seasoned well and the portions were big! Would 1000% go back
This is the Gem of the city. You can’t get more authentic than this. Plus the southern charm is well and alive. You’ll always be greeted with a smiling face. Honestly, what are you waiting for? Change your life and taste the soul of the city!
