We loved SoBou. You will definitely need a reservation!! The place is always packed. The decor was so modern and trendy. The food is unique and interesting. We ordered the savory beignets (crawfish). They were amazing! We noticed that every single table had ordered them as well. We also ordered the tuna cones, they came covered with an avocado cream ice cream, delicious! We also got the shrimp corndog and the cochon au lait. Everything was exceptional. We enjoyed our drinks too. Our waitress was lovely and friendly. It was a great experience. We will definitely be returning!

We booked a dinner and cocktail experience through opentable and it was amazing. Chef Nick came out and talked to us about every course we had. The cocktails were great, but my advice come with an empty stomach!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!! Absolutely loved my experience both times!! A local suggested this place so I decided to go because local suggestions are always the best anyway! I went on a Friday night for dessert and had the white chocolate and cherry jubilee bread pudding with a shot of the hooch of the day... it was Amazing! If you're a fan of bread pudding you definitely need to try this! My wife loved it even though she rarely likes sweets. While there that Friday I noticed on the menu they offered a burlesque brunch on Sunday's so I returned Sunday (today) for the brunch & I was totally NOT DISAPPOINTED!! The burlesque dancer was doing her thang when we arrived around 12! They offer a two course brunch and a bottomless hooch or Bellini option. I took advantage of both and did the bottomless Bellini, crab claws (for the crab lovers!! Don't pass them up!!) and the Bananas Foster. I had seen photos of the sweet potato beignets on Yelp so I asked the waiter about them and the Chef came out and offered to make some up for us since they weren't on the menu and I must say they were deliciously savory and sweet!! They ended up having duck in them and we didn't know so the chef apologized (even though it was my fault I requested them not knowing they had meat in them) and offered a free glass hooch! I really appreciate when the chef comes out to talk with you! He thanked us for returning to the restaurant also. Top tier service! Beautiful venue! Amazing food! Don't come to NOLA without giving this place a try! Especially for the burlesque brunch!! @bellabluenola was beautiful!! & the show was awesome!! Seriously try this place!!!

Wonderful dinner while we were visiting on our honeymoon. Steak cooked perfectly and complimented with crawfish sauce! First time trying boudin and was pleasantly surprised, definitely a Cajun specialty. Reservation was easy on open table. Ambiance was perfect for romantic date night.

SoBou has been on my list for years, so I finally decided to visit on a Friday evening. I made reservations for the courtyard but changed to inside upon arriving. We sat in a neat spot in front of the restaurant and the doors were slightly open. Before being seated, I asked if bugs would be a problem and the hostess said no because there’s a vent above the door. Our server was really nice and started us each with a lagniappe (complimentary small drink). It was good! We started with some small bites. The sweet potato beignets were my favorite! The oyster tacos and boudin trail were okay and the shrimp & tasso corn dogs were quite interesting. By this time, the bugs had become a problem and we asked to move further inside the restaurant. Our cocktails were meh and didn’t look as good as what SoBou had advertised on their Instagram. The real star of the show was the Cuban sandwich. It was perfect! By this time, I was crazy full and ordered the pecan not pie to-go. I was expecting so much more from the dessert. Overall, SoBou is an okay option but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to return here.

Bella Blue Burlesque show was great. The short rib was very good but not enough meat. Waiter wasn't rude but wasn't friendly.

I feel like this place was a bit overpriced. The food was good but costs too much. And we witnessed our server giving attitude to the hostess because she didn't want to serve us. I felt like that was a bit inappropriate seeing as we were standing right there! And when serving us, she was being Speedy Gonzales and just trying to get rid of is lol. They need to do better with that.

We had a high expectation for the restaurant because we also stayed at W hotel. Even though the hotel was outstanding, we were disappointed at the food and service of Sobou restaurants's Christmas eve experience.
We try to understand that maybe it was Christmas eve and they can't get people to work on that night. That may explain what happened to us at Sobou.
First, our table's server appeared to be too inexperienced. He didn't even serve the drink for my mom. Instead, he put two drinks in front of me. One was mine and another was mom's. And the rest of the time, he never checked whether the food or drinks were ok.
Drinks were just ok. We order gin fizz. But it definitely not a gin fizz that they served us. So we asked to change to french 75. It was ok like we can get from any bar.
Gumbo was just ok. The only food that was cooked well was the fish. It was hard to get the fish this tender. Short rib was tender. But the garnish, sauce and seasoning were not as good as we expected. The taste was bland. Vegetable on the side of short rib was undercooked.
The dessert pie came with half melted ice-cream. Creme brulee does not have a crispy top and was bland.
I believe if you have a regular menu, it should be ok because others give good reviews. But try to avoid holiday meals. It is not worth the money.
It will be difficult to be a returning customer.
