It was such a lovely place and the people behind the bar were so kind and hardworking! I proposed to my boyfriend while there because of how much the craft behind cocktails means to him. They helped me without hesitation, I can’t recall their names at this moment but nonetheless please give them a good tip because they are such kind people and so considerate! I appreciate each and each and every one of them and I can see they appreciate the craft. The drinks were fantastic and the place deserved to be recognized! In case you wanted to know, the ring is made from a rum barrel!

If you’re a rum connoisseur, you have to check out beach bum berrys, the Tiki’s are well balanced from their main menu. I did not order from the food menu, just came for the drinks ordered 8 different drinks and even got an autographed copy of his book, a true hidden gem of New Orleans, Great establishment, beautiful decoration, staff that goes beyond the call of duty to help you.

Drinks are beyond fantastic. Staff is amazing. Food just plain "hits" and soaks up the rum just right. The regular clientele are also great company. This is the standard that all Tiki should be measured against. It was a true privledge to indulge a little at the Bum's own rum shack, and will relish every future opportunity.

This is my favorite bar in the whole world. Love the atmosphere. You can tell they take quality and service very seriously. Me and my boyfriend are selfishly gatekeeping this place from our friends, but we really do love and recommend this bar a lot. Food selection is small but delicious, but they make up for it with a huuuuuge drink menu.

Come for the cocktails, some of the best tiki libations you'll ever enjoy. During happy hour, the space was quiet and service was attentive but a little slow with a bartender in training. We also enjoyed the fried chicken sammy (loved the daikon slaw!). It's great to find classic joints in the heart of NOLA that haven't turned into a tourist trap.

Reservations are highly recommended. Great vegan, df and gf options. We went on 4 Aug, 2023. This place blew me away. It’s unassuming and unpretentious from the outside, and the second you walk in, you’re in a climate controlled tiki paradise, and it is GREAT. We met some friends here for drinks before a few hours before dinner at a higher end joint. We ended up ordering a few appetizers and having drinks here, and let me tell you everything was better than the place we had dinner. The cocktail menu can be somewhat overwhelming, so the best bet is to tell your server what you like and then follow their recommendations. The flavors were perfectly balanced with one another. Everything was a 10/10. I asked the server to have the bartender make me “something fun with gin” and they definitely delivered. I was served a drink called a Saturn 🪐. It came as a blended drink served in a large snifter with a long curly lime twist and a nice round ice ball. As I drank it, the lime twist lowered down onto the ice ball forming Saturns ring, revealing the origin of the drinks name. V. cool. The appetizers and small plates blew us away. Everything was simply perfect and this is definitely a “come back to” spot.
