Pirates Alley Cafe

Pirate’s Alley is a hidden gem in the French Quarter with a great Absinthe selection and awesome staff. Ashley and Mitch are my favorites. They made the visit special, fun and even a little magical just by being themselves with the customers. I will always go back here every time I visit NOLA. I would rate the experience 10 stars if I could.

Cash only bar on Pirate Alley. We visited this as part of our Haunted Pub Crawl Ghost Tour and it was so awesome. They are known for their absinthe. I got their Wenches Kiss and it was delicious. The service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was everything we wanted. Friendly but that slightly spooky kind of vibe.

Lovely spot to sample absinthe tucked away in an historic alley right beside St. Louis Cathedral. This is on my must stop list every time I’m in the French Quarter. If you like absinthe or would like to try it, prepared and served in the classic way, you simply have to stop in. Get away from the madness of Bourbon Street and relax in the stone courtyard here a while. They have a full bar, but the absinthe is the true star at this unique location. It is cash only, so bring your green, but definitely don’t miss sipping a glass of the green fairy in the calming shadow of a French Quarter cathedral.

A really cool little spot that could easily be missed in the activity of the French Quarter. Pirate Alley Cafe is at the intersection of Pirate Alley and Cabildo Alley. Missing it would be a shame. Specializing in absinthe drinks, the also have a full bar and talented bar tenders. The position between the alleys usually provide a nice breeze in a shady area. Quite a blessing in the Summer. Definitely worth a visit and give the absinthe a try.

We wanted to try some Absinthe during our visit to NOLA on Mardi Gras, and a local brought us here the night after Fat Tuesday. The timing must have been perfect as the place was mostly empty and we received service quickly. While we were sitting, the place did fill up with customers quickly. Anyways, awesome selection of Absinthe from multiple European countries. A friendly and knowledgeable bartender described differences between the options and the process of serving it. Good stuff! Would have stayed for more if time allowed!

Really cool little place that is in the alley right over by Jackson Square. I may not even of known of this place if I didn't take the tour since it is off to the side. Glad they showed us this place and aloud us to stop and grab a drink during our tour. It for sure is unique and I definitely recommend you stop there if in the area!

Such a unique location; alley next to the church. We visited on a Monday night and it was still busy with guests at tables outside and people standing in the alley. There were only a few folks inside the bar and this gave us time to speak with the bartender, learn more about absinthe, and try the standard cocktail. This is my second time in New Orleans and I still add the Pirate's Alley to my list of places to visit.

The absinthe experience was great! Good recommendations from staff. True water drip process. ... First timer with this spirit. More of a sipper... Staff was nice, but no pirate people today. Lots of seating outside in a quiet alley. Lots of night tours come through here, so it may get a little busier then
