Didn’t think I was a fan of Israeli food until eating here. The pita is next level!! We came with a group of 8 so had to do the feed me menu. We were definitely fed… sooo much food. We were seated by a somewhat private table but the restaurant was not thrilled when we were standing up and chatting at the beginning and end so maybe not a great spot for a large gathering.

Great indoor/outdoor space on Magazine street. Service was friendly and fast even as the tables were filling up. Most dishes are pretty small so definitely order a variety for the table. The fresh pita, smooth hummus, pickled carrots, and confit tomatoes were the standouts.

This is such an amazing restaurant! As an Israeli I wasn’t expected to be amazed by the food in an Israeli restaurant in the US, but this place definitely wowed me! Everything was extraordinary but the thing that surprised me the most was the pita - most places in the states does not have a decent pita bread (at least from an Israeli perspective), but this place had the best pita I had in my life! Despite being a but pricy, this place is highly recommended 👌🏽

Delicious dinner tonight at Saba. Many vegetarian options. I could easily say that this was the best falafel I have had outside of the Middle East. Our server Greg was outstanding and attentive. Highly recommended.

When you google Saba (which I did no less than 35 times, I was so excited to peruse the menu before we went) the line that pops up in the search bar is: "The Best Israeli Restaurant in New Orleans". This cannot help but feel like a little dig at Shaya, Chef Alon's former restaurant that royally screwed him over and offers much of the same cuisine. To which I say - Dig away! Saba is proof that this unbelievably talented chef never needed the Besh name (now currently worth nothing, BTW) to pull off what is truly an incredible triumph - Israeli food in Creole Country. Which is all to say - the food at Saba was incredible. We started with the assorted salatim and each one was perfect in both its simplicity and its flavor. We moved on to the very best chumus of my entire life. Perfectly crisped brussel sprouts nestled in a pool of creamy, slightly spicy hummus served with pillowy soft taboon-fired pita. Here's the kicker - we make a yearly pilgramage from Tel Aviv, where we live, to New Orleans, where I'm from, every summer. What this means is, essentially we have access to the *type* of food served at Saba at a moment's notice back home. And yet we've insisted on coming here since it opened. You know if an Israeli restaurant is able to snag a spot on a restaurant itinerary that is highly researched and extremely competitive, that's some damn good shakshuka. Sachten, y'all!

This may be the best meal I've ever had. Words cannot express how amazing every single item was. The tastes, textures and freshness were perfection. Mane........ Salatims: -Ikra: Smoked trout roe and baby herbs. -Lutenitsa: Bulgarian spread of roasted peppers, eggplant and tomatoes. -Pickles: Cabbage, turmeric cauliflower, citrus fennel, Israeli cucumbers and watermelon rinds. -Roasted beets: sumac pickled onions and dill. -Moroccan carrots: Chermoula, lentils and coriander. Brussel sprouts Hummus: shabazi onions, black garlic and pickled jalepenos. Salmon Malawach: labneh, cucumber, chermoula, and smoked trout roe. Shakshuka: local summer vegetables, chilli and soft cooked eggs. Fresh baked pita bread.

A few months ago I visited Shaya and was told I should definitely try Saba, so I did. Walked in and was greeted and sat immediately, sometimes reservations are best. Took a booth seat and was greeted by my waiter Andrew, who was amazing by the way. Ordered a sweet tea (got unsweetened but it was still good), mushroom hummus, falafel plate, grilled cabbage and lamb plate. The mushrooms humus had types of mushrooms, one oyster and the other I forgot. The bread was simply, OMG! The green falafels came in a 5 count with Tahini sauce on the side. Though they were a little more crispy than I like, they had a great flavor. I highly suggest baking or frying not so hard. The lamb was very tender and flavorsome, served over humus and red, sweet onion sauce. The grilled cabbage had just the right amount of char, topped with sprouts and roasted hazelnuts, onions and tomato paste that seems to have some type of refreshing fruit flavor in it. Over all, the experience was awesome and the food was great. Enjoy dinner inside or outside under a covered patio. Definitely won't be disappointed!

Saba does a lot of things very well. Excellent, in fact. The food, the atmosphere (both indoors and on the patio), the staff, decor, all amazing. Great location, too. The flavors, my god. Menu is not intimidating and offers many diverse options. The only place where they lose a star is on the cocktail menu. I ran through two cocktails on their craft list, before settling third on a gin gimlet I really liked. There were probably four others. Even at its busiest, the staff was extremely attentive and the service was never rushed or slow. We will definitely be back!

Great spot for brunch, amazing small plates and one of the best fried chicken dishes i’ve had in a long time. Get the ikra, smoked trout dip! Incredible pita as well.
