Finally found a place that cooks steak like I do. This place is amazing. Never had wet aged beef before and now don’t think I can go back to dry aged. One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. So worth the price. Forget the star of the show (the steaks) for a minute...the sides...wow. We had roster brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes that were both mouthwatering. On a side note their $9 side of brussel sprouts would make an amazing lunch. We will def be coming back her and def won’t be wasting my time ordering steaks in any other place. What I loved about this place is walking thru the dining room to use the bathroom and hearing other tables rave “omg best steak I’ve ever had” “wow...just wow” and my fav “thanks you’ve now ruined me for any other steakhouse” ....if you’ve walked past this place wondering if you should try it YOU SHOULD!! Your doing yourself a disservice not eating in this joint. And PS the decor inside is awesome.
We were from out of town and looking for a place with steak and raw oysters. This was on New Year’s Eve so after calling at least 5 places we were able to finally get a reservation at Jacks using the open table app. We weren’t expecting much since it was last minute and everywhere else that had good or decent reviews were booked and we were wondering why this place wasn’t??? Either they just haven’t built up their reputation or poor quality food and/or over priced. We were going to find out.
When we got there our coats were checked at the door. They sat us quickly even though we were a few minutes late because of road conditions. Our waitress was Sonya. She was soooo helpful, polite, well spoken,friendly, and great at giving us the details of the items on the menu. Although they gave good descriptions we wanted further details. Sonya was amazing! We loved her! The drink menu was great as well.
We had raw oysters and fried calamari as our appetizers. Both were tasty.
Now for the main review, the meat! We are from the south and we love beef. Especially steak. It was unanimous among all 4 adults that the steaks were AMAZING!!! 3 of us had the 10oz Ribeye and then one 6oz Filet Mignon. They were seasoned perfectly and the steaks were prepared rare. Presentation was on point! The steaks were very tender and melted in your mouth.
We split the sides as the portions there are generous. Loved the brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Then we had the lava cake for dessert. It was truly divine!
We could not of been more pleased. We truly found a hidden gem in New Haven. Once word gets out I’m sure it will not be as easy to get a seat.
