Wow! From the moment we walked into The Ginkgo Tree Inn we felt right at home. The innkeeper was so friendly and immediately offered to upgrade our room at no extra charge to accommodate two adults and a two year old in a king size bed instead of the queen we originally booked.
The gardens are beautiful and there are plenty of places to explore and relax around the yard including a large front porch.
We spent the evening at the park that is literally in the backyard of the inn. It has brand new playground equipment and it was perfect for letting our son burn off energy after a five hour drive.
When we arrived back at the inn, the innkeeper was enjoying a beautiful evening on the porch watching her daughter play in the yard.
Our bed was so cozy that our son, who usually wakes up with the sun, slept in and wasn't ready to get up.
The first course of breakfast was waiting for us when we walked into the bistro--vanilla yogurt topped with granola, fresh fruit, and some delicious sweet breads. The second course was a frittata, sweet potato home fries, and bacon. All of the food was so yummy and filling.
But even better than the food was the innkeeper who was so engaging with our son after he finished his breakfast and we continued to eat. She listened to his stories, read a magazine with him, and even danced with him. He was so comfortable around her that he snuggled up to her as she read. I think we all would have been happy to stay all day talking and playing.
The Ginkgo Tree Inn was a perfect stop to break up an eight hour drive from Dayton, Ohio to Mackinac Island, Michigan. We will definitely keep it in mind for our future Michigan travels!
It was always on my list to stay here since I was at Central and it did not disappoint. The place is beautiful and an easy walk from everything downtown. And breakfast was amazing. Definitely staying here again.
