My husband and I had dinner there tonight. We tried Shagwong on a whim! We were pleasantly surprised! The food and service were exceptional! I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for good food. We plan to go back again before our vacation is over!
The atmosphere, the service, the food....A+! First time in Montauk and we loved it. Cold, but loved it. So, so, so happy we chose to have dinner our last night at Shagwong. I had to start with the clam chowder. It was toooooo die for! Entree, I had the PEI scallops over mushroom aspergrass risotto. Spectacular! If ever in Montauk you have to go to Shagwong!
I was pleasantly surprised with this place. We had a long day hiking the trails and stopped in for lunch. The hostess/waitress had her work cut out for her. I ordered the clam chowder and husband got the cheeseburger and fries. The chowder had a creamy flavor and big chunks of potato and clam.
The cheeseburger was cooked really well and had a thick patty. The cheddar cheese is a nice touch. They didn’t have French’s mustard so hubby ate it dry.
Overall it hit the spot.
We had been to Shagwong many years ago and wanted to go again during our recent trip to Montauk. Shagwong is one of the few restaurants open year round in the area. There is a large bar area. The dining room is very casual and rustic. The server was friendly, attentive and had good suggestions for our meal. We enjoyed the wings, baked mac & cheese and fried calamari. The prime rib sandwich was delicious and came with dipping sauce. The fish and chips were fresh and filling with plenty of French fries.

The energy in the place was simply amazing, creating a vibrant and inviting atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home.
The food at this restaurant is truly impressive. While I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, I did find the burger to be a tad salty. However, its delicious flavor more than made up for it, and it was still a delight to savor.
Chowder was so delicious 😋.
One of the standout features of this establishment is the fantastic staff. The people who work here are incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of.
My recent visit to the restaurant left me with a rather average impression. The food was quite bland and the slow service did not enhance the dining experience. I also found the menu to be overpriced for what was served. While the ambiance was pleasant, the overall meal fell short of expectations.
We both had fish and chips. Very crispy. Plenty of fries came with the order. We went during lunch and ate outside. Not very crowded. Bar area seemed to be busier.
Nice local bar. The zucchini fries are plentiful and have a good spicy sauce. The Clams Casino is interesting - like Oysters Rockefeller.
Cozy little bar and restaurant. Service was good. People were friendly. We had clams which were delicious. Then we had french onion soup. Wow! It was so good. Very hot, lots of cheese and bursting with flavor.
Had a nice experience here! We are here off season, so I understand most of the restaurants being closed in the Winter. I’m sure this place is crazy packed during the Summer! To the Karens out there, no they are NOT a Chinese Restaurant. Would come back again!
When you visit Montauk you’ll notice this place right away for its beautiful and historic aesthetics, but the food and the service will be what you remember most. This is how fish tastes when it’s fresh and local. Everything is a dream here. From soups to drinks to desserts, Shagwong is a jewel in the crown of Montauk.
Amazing dinner here! Great wait staff. Cold Radiant Pig "Save The Robots" IPA on draught. The Steak and Paella were both perfect.
