Quick and efficient. I called ahead and the time was perfect and spot on. Street parking is available and I had no problem finding a spot. Signage is easy to read and very visible. Food was great! Rib tips came with BBQ sauce on the side, I enjoy the fact I had the option to choose how much sauce I wanted to put on my tips. The BBQ sauce came in great portion. Catfish was classic, packaged well with my tips. I didn't have to worry about food being soggy because it was prepared/packaged well. Yams were phenomenal! I will return, I want to see what else the menu has to offer. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the entire experience!
Grew up Southside eating Ted Cooks Scott Ja Mamas Cgs all that, came here first time got ribs and Mac he forgot to add the Mac to the order and threw it in for free. Ribs are juicy and perfectly smoked, homemade Mac hits and the owners son who runs it Dwight was a cool dude. I’ll be back.
I'm so mad I live all the way in Rogers and have to drive to get this catfish! 😂 We were visiting George Floyd Square and stopped in for a quick bite to eat, we had no idea the food was going to be this good. The catfish was fried fresh, crispy, not greasy, and soooo good. The candied yams were on point! And the mac 'n cheese had just the right about of kick. Definitely on my list of the Twin Cities best!
Recently visited Minneapolis for a wedding weekend and had the opportunity to try several BBQ joints. Hands down, Smoke in the Pit (SITP) takes first prize. The owner Dwight is very friendly and makes everything from scratch daily. The ribs and chicken wings were perfectly smoked, nice penetration, meat pulled easily from the bone. The fried catfish was a delight with a nice crispy crust coating. The greens were delicious and spiced well, the mac and cheese was spot on and spicy as well but tasted distinctly different from the greens. If you are in the area, this place is right next to the George Floyd memorial, ya gotta give it a try. SITP is take out only and be sure to call first to verify the hours.
We picked up lunch today. I had seen the smoked wings mentioned a lot. GET THEM!! Seriously. The brisket was good, but those wings. Ugh, so good. We bought pulled pork for later. We got sauce that I think comes with the pork. We ended up dipping the fries in the sauce. Buy the sauce just to dip everything in! There was some confusion, some on our part as we missed the lunch option is only weekdays. We didn't get the side of beans with our brisket we asked for so we ended up with 2 sides of greens, which were delicious. And the very nice young lady forgot to add the large side of beans. The owner was very nice and when we told him it was our first time he said we'd be back. I think he will be proved right!! It didn't come with eating utensils. I don't known if you have to ask, but maybe plan ahead. We tore up a corner of the to go carton and made a spoon for the greens!🤣
🤦🏽♂️ it's the catfish and smoked wings for me. The catfish was fried to perfection and very flavorful. The smoked wings were tender and had an awesome smokey flavor to them. The ribs also had a very smokey flavorful taste and were really tender. The side I had were the fried spaghetti, which was really really good. Also had the greens and they were amazing. This man knows what he's doing and definitely is doing a great job he's also very professional. I'll definitely be back with the wife and would advise others to give it a shot. You will Not be disappointed!! 💪🏾
Stopped in for the first time recently. The smoked wings had fantastic Smokey flavor. The real highlight of my order was the catfish platter. Perfectly cooked and seasoned catfish. Great service and such a friendly crew!
I stopped by for the first time last week and had the brisket and mac and cheese and it was delicious! Some of the best brisket I have every had. The owners are super nice and welcoming too. I look forward to my next visit to Minneapolis so I can come back for some more!
I was in the neighborhood at a jobsite, I could smell this place down the ally. I stopped in and the gentleman behind the counter, I assume is the owner, as he was very passionate about his meats and also very kind. Long story short, best darn pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had. 3 meals for 25 bucks…. Bomb.
Always amazing. A true multi generational family community hotspot.
The smoked wings are worth a drive and the prices are a vibe.
