We had a great breakfast. The pancakes were our favorite, one of the best around the twin cities!

Fantastic find, classic counter diner. Great food, fast service, great prices. Awesome atmosphere, belly up to the counter and enjoy. Great real corned beef. Fair warning, limited seating, a place to eat quick and go for one - two people, otherwise get it to go if available.

We're in town for a friend's wedding and happened to come across this quaint diner that had a relaxing, welcoming, and homie environment. It was wonderful watching the cook make our meals right in front of us as we enjoyed a cup of nice hot coffee this cold MN morning. The gravy on the biscuits and gravy I had was so tasty, and my husband's french toast hit the spot! As out of towners, Ideal Diner is a must-eat place. You will not be disappointed.

Working man’s breakfast was tremendous and their gravy is delicious on the country fried steak. They were slammed with customers. Couldn’t believe two people could prepare and serve that fast! Piping hot and tasty breakfast!!!

It is what it is. And sometimes, that’s just what you need. This is the closest thing to Waffle House in MN! Great service, better prices. I’d definitely come back!

TL;DR - A classic little diner with all-day breakfast and classic Americana menu that's worth the trip, both for atmosphere and the food.
The service was quick and friendly and I really loved the small diner atmosphere where you can watch all the goings-on of the staff. Watching the cook be a master of the grill with the ability to manage a bunch of different orders at the same time is really something to witness. The waitress was no exception: constantly moving, always staying on top of incoming orders and outgoing checks, cleaning up after patrons, and never missing a beat.
Food was an equally as fantastic experience. Burger was tasty and well-prepared and the bacon was really something special; probably some of the best bacon I've ever had being thick cut, crispy, and exceptionally tasty. Got a side of Tots and they were perfectly crispy and tasty.
Taking all this and combining it with an affordable price really solidifies this as a place you really need to check out.

Yum! We are always after a good diner, with 12 bar stools and 8 window seats this place is great! Priced well and very friendly and attentive staff. Ordered the breakfast burrito and the corn beef hash both of which came up quick and we’re delish! Not too big, just the right serving size we left full and has to take our blueberry pie to go. Cannot wait to devour that too.
