I never knew about this restaurant until my son did a Google search. This gem in south Minneapolis blows my socks off partly because it’s a new discovery today. The grand Marais scramble with lake, trout and cream cheese is très Bien. My son, Ben, got the poutine which makes him proud to be an American! He says muy bueno.

Classic diner atmosphere with hundreds of porcelain figurines to look over you as you eat bacon. Solid food. We loved the caramel apple French toast!

I really enjoyed my breakfast date with my husband at Hot Plate in south Minneapolis. The restaurant is eclectic, trendy, and comfy, besides offering yummy food and good coffee. My husband and I shared a large, warmed, caramel pecan roll with a dollop of butter on top; it was delicious! In the past, I have enjoyed Hot Plate’s eggs Benedict, however, today I tried their “Grand Marais” Scramble: scrambled eggs with cream cheese and smoked lake trout and asparagus, country potatoes, and toast on the side. I definitely want to return! ❤️

Fun and funky! Greatest find of 2023 so far. The decor is outstanding.. like everyone's grandma emptied their China cabinets all in one room. I love it and need to go back, because there's so much to look at! My coffee cup never went empty, which I love. The food is so delicious and it's a great price. I 109% will be back here and love telling people about this find.

Kitschen cooking at its most fun. With the walls covered in paint-by-number and decorative oil paintings and every surface covered in 70s figurines and clowns, Hot Plate triples down on a helping of kitsch with every breakfast plate. The staff was sweet and helpful. You should find your fave on the menu. Save if you pay with cash. My only star off was the use of the ubiquitous steel chair made to hurt. But the booths were wide and accommodating.

You definitely have to visit at least once this place that has become a little gem in Nokomis Lake area especially for brunch. Very delicious and fresh, hot coffee all the time, great customer service worth the time that you have to wait to be seated.

I don’t remember how this place ended up on my saved “Want To Go” lists, but I’ve must of seen someone post it and it looked good. Sunday I happened to be nearby looking for food and decided to stop by cause I LOVE breakfast at anytime. Upon walking in I was greeted by an all female staff (except the cooks) I think and they were friendly. I was riding solo so they sat me right at the bar in the front. My first impression was the decor was waaaay to busy, literally decorations everywhere, all walls, ceilings, ledges, etc. Very eccentric but that is probably the vibe they are going for and what draws people here. The menu has lots to chose from which is a good thing, except regular French toast which was disappointing. I ordered the apple bacon bits pancakes, scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. The pancakes were fluffy and covered the entire plate and tasty. The potatoes were crispy and seasoned well. The scrambled eggs over cooked and bland. Overall 4/5 for the breakfast. All the sides are a la carte ($2-$5 each) which adds up quickly in these types of establishments. Even being seated next to all the waitresses it still took a WHILE to just get water refills, my waitress was pretty popular and had alot of regulars. Overall a good breakfast meal, ran me about $22 without getting a drink. I was so full from the short stack pancakes I had to take a cat nap in my car lol. I would visit again with friends so I can try more of the menu and have mimosa’s. Tip for waitresses: I watched a few of them pouring the champagne in the glass in an upright position where most of it turns to foam. You can get more champagne then foam if you tilt the glass while pouring like a beer. Probably will save you a good chunk of change and extend the champagne inventory

A must stop for breakfast for both out of towners and residents. The decor is adorable and cozy. The food was DELICIOUS and the service was quick. Stop scrolling review now and just go. You can read the reviews while you wait to be seated. There was a small wait because everyone knew how good it was and didn't stay at home reading reviews.

Visiting from out of area- outstanding breakfast spot! Very cozy- decor took me back to my youth with the amber grapes, hundreds of those large eyed figurines from gift store and paint by numbers. Food and service were fantastic- air fried home fries!! Son had caramel apple French toast and I had Eggs Benedict done to perfection

Charming little gem very much worth the wait! The atmosphere was cozy with cute decor scattered throughout the space. Their wonderful menu made it difficult to choose just one dish so my husband and I shared several dishes. It was very busy when we went and yet our server was always on top of checking in on us with a warm, pleasant demeanor. I should also mention that during our wait to be seated we were able to enjoy the outdoor patio and pergola. The food definitely lived up to our expectations! We can't wait to return with family and friends in the future!
