I've been a long time patron of Young Joni, and the Back Bar specifically is my all time favorite bar in the Twin Cities. Naturally, it seemed like a perfect choice to host the reception for me and my wife's wedding, and after doing so, we could not have asked for a better experience. Stephen, the special events and FOH manager, was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was so helpful in the planning, communication, and execution of our reception on the day-of. The staff at our reception were awesome, and helped us create such a memorable experience. The drinks were stunningly crafted (of course), and the food was perfect. Our guests came away telling us that it was by far the best wedding reception they'd ever been to. We are SO HAPPY with our experience, and we highly recommend the Young Joni Back Bar as a wedding venue!

Beautiful restaurant with amazing food. I started off with some drinks- martini and a spritz. Both were amazing with great flavors. We then had their Korean BBQ pizza and their Korean sweet potato. Both were oozing with great flavors. We got real lucky with being able to be seated with no reservation. Good to know for next time that we need to make reservations.
Had an amazing dinner at Young Joni on a Wednesday night. Get there early, we didn’t have reservations and got seated after about a 20 minute wait. When people were coming in to see how long the wait was, it was up to 2 hours. The drinks were also very good, I’d recommend getting the spritz! We tried two pizzas and two sides and they were all above expectations! The cauliflower side was so good as was the smashed parsnips. We also tried the Korean BBQ pizza and the Spicy Kale. Both pizzas were amazing! We ended our dinner with the Church Basement Cookie and Bar Plate and the dessert bars were so good. Highly recommend getting a reservation for this place and buy a ticket for the Photo Booth!
Came here on a Thursday at 4 pm since there were no other reservations available.
Good:
- The Korean bbq pizza was amazing! I loved how it was asian fusion and that it was super savory - surprisingly a lot of veggies on it too
- The chili shrimp was also super good, and I liked how it was unique and tasted really fresh
- I liked the short ribs and the sweet potato as well - super crispy and unique and both had a twist on the usual recipe
- The ambiance here is more upscale and fancy
Bad:
- Food was great, just nothing too crazy about the experience which is why it's a 4 and not a 5!
Overall this was a really nice place to go to and the food was stellar!
This is a good place to grab a bite, hangout with friends and have some food. They have good pizzas, and lots of drink options.
Unfortunately, the pizza I tried and the drink I was suggested both were not good. Though the ambiance was really nice with lots of good crowd.
They charge extra 21% on Menu priced items which I think is very unfair to the customers. Whatever may be the reason, such extra charges over menu priced items is unfair. By the way, this is not a tip! Tip is extra above this 21%.
Overall its a good place and has a nice ambiance.
Due to the extra charges the prices here are high compared to the similar such places. The only food they had in the menu is Pizza.
Came here while traveling through Minneapolis after seeing the restaurant on Chef’s Table - definitely meets the hype especially with the great execution on fusion flavors. Pickle pizza is actually quite tasty, as is the La Parisienne. Sweet Potato hash was a good treat with the pork belly chunks! Overall worth the detour from the main downtown area!
5 stars across the board. Excellent wood fired pizzas, lovely cocktails. The old fashioned and spritz were exceptional. The atmosphere alone makes this a must visit in the twin cities… if you can get a reservation!
Absolutely first class pizza place. Well deserved James Beard Award. The 4 pizzas we tried and the kimchi hummus were all fantastic. Crust was exactly as it should be - crispy yet chewy with some char on the outside. Combination of toppings on each pie were creative but cohesive. The perfect pickle pie is a must try not just because you won’t find a pizza like this anywhere else in the world but also because it’s so delicious. And the soft serve ice cream was a wonderful way to wrap up the meal. A must visit if you’re in Minneapolis!!
Absolutely lovely spot for a date night or client dinner. Atmosphere was energetic but upscale, with excellent service. Our server checked in on us every few minutes and we are so glad to have followed her recommendations. The entree off the non-pizza menu was delicious and unusual without being unapproachable, and the pizza was some of the best we have ever had - especially impressive as it did not have the soggy middle some woodfired pizza tend to have with a runny sauce. We were skeptical of the softserve dessert but after our first bites...we were speechless. Please try this, it will redefine what an ice cream dessert can be. Overall wonderful experience, looking forward to our next visit.
10/5 Ranking, since I can't go any further than 5, it warrants mentioning right off the bat. We went for brunch at noon on a Sunday. Two people in our group had the spritz and really enjoyed that, I had the bloody mary, and it's in my top 3 - light, refreshing, unique.
Now on to the food, the Dutch baby was so supple, decadent and perfect. Great summer flavors! Two others got the breakfast pizza, the best breakfast pizza we've ever had, hands down. The creaminess of the yolk, the flavor of the fresh fried sage, and the sausage was superb. And the other dish we had was the Juk, another great choice. There are lots of flavors and it was a very unique brunch option.
The service went above and beyond, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Get your reservations now!
