Newk's Eatery

The food is usually very good, prepared correctly, and served in a timely manner. It is typically one of my favorite spots for something to take with me for lunch. I was very disappointed today, an hour and a half before closing. There wasn't any sweet tea available out front or in the back. I asked for some, and the staff refused to make any. Meanwhile, two of them were standing behind the counter on their phones.

The food was excellent, I got the French Dip sandwich and the pimento and bacon Mac & cheese, my girlfriend got the Newk's Q, and my kid got the 5 cheese Mac and cheese. The staff were friendly and helpful with our couple of questions. There's high chairs and kids cups if you need them. The inside reminds me of a mix between Pamera and Boston Market. They also sell the soup in large containers to take home to have for a couple meals.

We came to Memphis for a Dr. visit. After the visit, we looked for some place we'd never eaten at before and found Newk's on Poplar. Place was clean and the food was Excellent but what made our visit memorable was the gentleman that took our order. His name is Henry, he greeted us with a smile and me being a picky eater I began telling him what I didn't want on my sandwich. He said wait, lets start from the top and he began listing everything, waiting on my reply yes or no but his last question was do you want bread with a grin. It was his demeanor, lite heartedness and jovial approach that made our visit unexpectedly pleasant. I rarely tip at the cash register but I did on this visit. Thanks Henry for making our trip and our visit to Newk's a great experience.
