Mahomet Family Restaurant

This is a great family restaurant that is located in the small town of Mahomet just off I-74 and easy to get to for weary travelers. I grew up in Mahomet and each time I would come home to visit family we would take my Mom there. The family who own this restaurant are always there and really friendly. They have an extensive menus that serves great super crispy fried chicken which is my Mom's go to, a really good Reuben sandwich, pecan pancakes and really everything we have had here has always been really good. My husband like going there on Tuesday because they have great vegetable soup. He usually tries something different each time and has never been disappointed - and he's picky. If you want some great down home cooking that's nothing fancy then this is the place to go!

We never got seated or acknowledged. I watched as a man waited at the counter to pay, a family in front of us was already waiting when we arrived. Apparently being short staffed meant customer service went out the window. There was never a "Hi, glad you're here I'm very sorry we're short staffed and it will be a while before I get to you." I heard short replies to people that were ordering. No apology for being out of gravy but an annoyed tone stating they were out of gravy. When the family in front of us was finally acknowledged and asked the size of their party, 8 minutes after we had arrived, they were told exasperatedly that there were only two people in and a party of 15 in the back took up the attention of the other person. There was no awareness of how to communicate with a customer instead I heard a tone that complained about having too many customers while being understaffed. It's understandable to be understaffed. It's not understandable to have bad customer interactions because of it. After hearing that, and still not being acknowledged with some poor guy still waiting at the counter to pay and leave we left. If I was the owner I would be livid.
