Not only is the customer service outstanding here but the ice cream is delicious. I had “Joe’s cookie butter” ice cream flavor in a waffle cone and it exceeded all expectations. So good! I’m also extremely allergic to tree nuts and they had an allergy fact sheet handy before I even ordered and when they scooped the ice cream they made sure to use a fresh scooper. Would highly recommend this ice cream parlor! We will definitely be back.
Five stars for the charming location in downtown Louisville. Three stars for the ice cream.
Sweet Cow offers 24 flavors, with a rotating menu. There are many one-of-a-kind options along with vegan flavors. Besides scoops there are sundaes and ice cream sandwiches. We love grabbing some ice cream and walking around the downtown area or heading over to the park nearby (Louisville Community Park). If you opt to stay, there is a nice, fenced-in outdoor eating space with tables adjacent to Lucky Pie. There is ample parking also.
The ice cream itself, while good, is only worth it for the experience of being out and about and going downtown. It's $4/single scoop. For our family of five we can easily spend $30. I prefer buying a gallon of ice cream from the grocery store as far as taste and value go. Sweet Cow tends to be light with their mix-ins, (i.e. cookies and cream often ends up more like plain chocolate), and the consistency has varied on our different trips from sweet and creamy to a little icy.
I do appreciate that they make everything, including the waffle cones and fudge, from scratch. You can really taste the difference there. I just wish they would have more consistency with their ice cream and add in more mix-ins to their flavors.
The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Even with a line out the door, the service is fast without feeling rushed. They have a bathroom in the back that has always been clean. Mobile truck ice cream is on par for quality, but about $1 more per item.
Takeaway. Go for the experience of walking around downtown Louisville or up to the nearby park on a nice summer evening. If you're just going for the ice cream, save yourself some money and buy a gallon from the store.
What a great tasty spot. The ice cream was fantastic. It was a hot day and I went for the 3 scoops with the waffle cone for added melt time. I had the mint chocolate chip, apple pie, and the lavender honey. I’m not sure which one was better they were all really good. Maybe the Apple pie just cause I never had something like that before.
It was busy, good menu, and nice area to sit outside.

A popular local ice cream place with a cute outside area. The line was long, but the staff has a good system in place which kept the line moving, so it didn't take long to place our order. I had a coffee, brownie fudge shake and it was delicious.
Keep in mind that there is a pizza place next door and there are 2 lines, one for ice cream and one for pizza, so make sure are are in the correct line.
God, what a superb location, possibly making this specific Sweet Cow the best ice cream spot in all of Colorado (and this is the original Sweet Cow). The crowd is a young, super sweet mixed in with families and people spilling out of the restaurants as they serve last call.
Sweet Cow in Louisville is like a hug from a 1950's era ice cream shop and neighborhood party juxtaposed with Generation Z as the dominant patron.
Their ice cream is the best! Lots of delicious flavors, and all made locally. A nice outdoor area for enjoying the treats (astroturf, not grass, but totally understand the choice). Our go-to ice cream parlor.
We had a blast at this location. The outside seating area is terrific!
Employees keep the long lines moving. The ice cream is tasty, with a wide selection of flavors to meet anyone's craving. Even my lactose intolerant companion was able to eat a vegan alternative which he declared, "Absolutely delicious!"
