Yummy Korean bbq lunch
So I’ve heard of this place which isn’t easy to find bc you drive into a plaza that contains several restos and a Starbucks. Plus if you go for dinner, they have lines and waits. We went for lunch and it was delicious. We ordered the beef combo, and it was a lot of meat. This place is known for its galbi. We had banchan of a spicy romaine salad, radish soup, acorn squash, kimchi, Kim, kimchi pancake, and dipping sauce for the meat. We also got tofu soup. It was all delicious and we were stuffed. The staff comes by and cooks your meat on the grill and it was delicious.
A reputable BBQ restaurant in Korean town. Clean environment and attentive staff.
Ordered a beef and pork combo. Each came with 3 dishes (some raw, some cooked). Good quality meat were meat were provided, and our waitress cooked the meat for us so we could concentrate on the eating:)
All meat tasted great especially the marinated ones. They provided flavored lettuce so you could wrap the meat within.
The only downside was the limited range of sides.

It is one of the best restaurants of LA. The food here is good expect some of the dishes that I found just average. My favourite is Prime boneless short rib . You may also find this this this this dishes finger licking. The place is best for beef........
best korean bbq i've ever tried. the meat was amazing, as was the side dishes. the service was great - the waiters were friendly and helpful. the place can get crowded, but it's not bothersome. price is reasonable.
Heard a lot about this place so visited for dinner tonight. After about 20 mins of waiting, I got a seat. The attendant at the door was very considerate to arrange a seat where I can fix my child with his pram (stroller).
Ambience is average... could definitely be better. Maybe a little more cleaner..the floor was slippery and felt greasy. Seats were too close to each other.
Staff are friendly and helpful. Smiling attitude.
Food is nice. Although I expected more variety since the place is so popular. Quality of food is good. Saurabh SabharwalSahil Sabharwal
The servers came by with the meat and began to cook and cut the meat for us. We rarely needed to cook anything, and soon we were stuffing our faces with the most delicious beef I’ve had since Seoul. The thin brisket tasted best dipped in sauce, topped with kimchi, green onions, and wrapped in lettuce. The other two tasted delicious on its own as well, but I couldn’t help putting the green onions on almost everything. The stew was an afterthought as I found it too salty and fishy, but it honestly didn’t matter with all the side dishes we had available.
I didn't know that I'd be able to find a good Korean grill in Los Angeles County. Kang Hodong is a truly authentic restaurant which offers real Korean cuisine in a land 10,000 miles away from where it originated. They serve perhaps one of the best korean beef I've tasted outside of Korea. The beef is thinly sliced (as you order) making it fresh and even without any condiments has that barbecue like tang. It's a dissolve in your mouth indulgence. Coupled with their prime choice of pickled vegetables and garnishes it gives you the complete Korean dining experience.
the best meat, best service (compare to other Korean restaurant), if ppl said the price is little high but for the food quality is nothing . One less star cause the parking and wait time is crazeyyyy!
I’ll start this post by saying that Kang Hodong Baekjeong is the best Korean BBQ I’ve ever had. Period. And you know that I’ve had a lot of Korean BBQ. Unfortunately (there’s always some bad news), it’s in Los Angeles. And boy, is this place popular. We’ve actually visited twice, and both times there was a 2 hour wait for dinner. On our first visit, we simply walked around the neighborhood (there was a Zion market about a block away) to pass the time until we received our call for dinner. The second time around, we were actually in LA for a show, so we signed ourselves up at the restaurant before heading to the show, and by the time we got out, our table was ready!
3.5 stars... they're not bad or anything, but I really think this place is overhyped and overrated. I've had better.
This place is NOT ayce and it's a bit pricy, apparently for their quality meat. I GUESS that's reasonable.
Food: I had the beef combo which is brisket, a piece of steak, and short ribs.
Brisket- you can't go wrong with this. But since the grill is super hot, your brisket will cook super fast and eventually burn. If you're the type that likes to leave your meat on the grill and take your time to eat, watch out for this.
Steak- not enough marbling but what do you expect, aint a steak place. The grill for this makes the steak stick a little bit. Be careful for overcooking, it'll taste like shit when it's overcooked.
Short ribs- way to salty.
Their soybean paste soup was pretty good but a little on the spicy side.
Gotta give an A for their white kimchi. Perfect.
A meh for their gimmicky cheese corn and egg that's cooked in the grill. The egg doesn't really cook evenly as it looks, you got to constantly stir it. The corn isn't even sweet, and the cheese they use makes the thing way too salty and taste not like your typical cheese corn.
Incredibly excellent cuts of meat! When they’re done they’re very tender. The flavor is incredible. You can choose from a beef or pork combo or a la carte. We chose a large beef combo which includes several cuts and costs about $162. The banchan are pretty good, especially the cheese corn. This restaurant is very lively and cool. We had a short 15 minute wait. Parking is inside the Chapman building and costs a whopping $20. Parking is very limited.
Baekjeong is a popular place for Korean BBQ in LA! The interior is dim and not well-lit but fairly spacious. Before being seated, your whole table must be present. The meat is good quality and the staff cooks the meat for you. There is also a variety of side dishes that come with each table
Excellent meat quality, especially in that price point. They cooked the meat for us, which we really appreciated. Kimchi was delicious; standout items of the night were kimchijigae (kimchi stew) and kimchi pancake. Atmosphere was typical for authentic Korean BBQ - slightly noisy, smoke-filled, and bustling with customers and servers.
The meal was very delicious- got the beef combo. The beef was tender and juicy, lots of flavor with the other options they provide at the table. Being a first-timer, it was a little confusing of what to eat with what and how the flavors were to be combined. The wait staff was semi-helpful at explaining it. The dining was close quarters. Neat but nothing I was impressed with. I liked the flavors of veggies. It was very pricey!
My second visit to Baekjeong was just as fantastic as the first. I highly recommend making a reservation through RESY, and this time, my group of six friends and I celebrated a birthday and our union.
We ordered the large Beef combo, featuring Thinly Sliced Brisket, Prime Marinated Beef, Prime Boneless Short Rib or Prime Rib Eye, and a choice of Soybean Paste Stew or Pork Kimchi Stew. We also enjoyed the Premium Pork Jowl.
The standout was the round table grill where the staff expertly cooked our meats to perfection. It included cheese, corn, and an egg omelet for us to prepare on the side. The staff was attentive and readily refilled our side dishes.
The meats were delicious and well-seasoned, and even the Pork Jowl was a delightful surprise.
Got the beef combo small for a family of 4 (2x children) it was definitely enough food.
Kind staff but a lil rushed appreciated them cooking the meat to perfection but needed some time to settle into the food. Plus they didn't even ask if we wanted any additional drinks.
Tried this place out with my dad today and we were full!!!! Parking is scarce unless you pay for valet but we got lucky and found street parking. Got the beef combo and that was more than enough for both of us.
This is not your usual AYCE KBBQ! It is Ala Carte menu. The staff are friendly. They will grill your chosen meat. The Banchan were so good, too. We ordered a pork belly and it was really soft and juicy. Over-all experience is great! Thank you
This is a pretty busy place and it is pretty hard to find a parking there too! We waited for an hour but we definitely think it worths the wait! All the meat are tasty! Servers there are nice too!
This place is super busy! They do not take reservations so I recommend going there to put yourself on the waiting list. They seat you when you’re whole party is there.
The premium beef and pork belly is delicious. They grill the meat for you, right at your table. The sides are good, Kim chi and Korean bean sprout salad are authentic. The kimchi soup was a little bland to me but I added some of the kimchi side dish on.
They have egg, corn with cheese on the side of the grill plate that cooks as you cook your meat.
I would come back here next time I’m in town.
