House Of Frites

I went around 11am during the week with some co-workers, and I ordered a large poutine to go. My coworker ordered a small to go. We got the same amount of food even though the cost is different. It seemed like the owner and employees were still getting their processes down, so service was a bit slow, although very friendly. The food was good as well. The fries were well done with some darker coloring on them, the gravy was tasty, but the cheese was not the greatest. I look forward to coming back in a few months once the place is a bit more established.

Perhaps I had a bad batch but I have never tasted fries like this. They were very dark and mushy. The flavor was awful and hung around in my mouth. I could not wait to get home to brush my mouth out. I do not know what could cause that flavor. I only ate four or five of them before I gave up. My wife agreed they were terrible and speculated that they were from the day before. Maybe they fry other things in that oil or don't change it, I could only guess. I love french fries and have never had anything like that before.

Unfortunately my review will have to be as low as possible. After so many great reviews I trekked here on my day off, drive across town@2p at the middle of their day and they're not open. We double check with record store next door and he says he hasn't seen him all day. Wow what a bummer to waste the time and not get to try what looks like a delicious meal but I guess he needed his Saturday off after only being open less than 2 weeks
