Berge's

This is my second time coming here. The people are so sweet. You've got to have their tomato soup it's absolutely delicious! Sometimes it appears that they are not busy inside the shop. However as I sat there I noticed the amount of people who came and picked up some food to go. Don't be discouraged if there's nobody else there. The food is really good. They even gave a samples of the tomato soup to test before we purchased. We ended up buying more to take home and have later. They added bread to our to-go bag.

After a day at Descanso Gardens, we Google a place to eat. Google did not disappoint and neither did Berge's Sandwich Shop. My family and I enjoyed our sandwiches, BLTA, White Tuna, Turkey and Avocado and a Corned beef. Also enjoyed the Potato salad and tomatoe bisque were flavorful. The people at the counter were friendly and welcoming.

Add me to the list of people who don't get why this place is rated so high. I think it's because the local eateries in LC get some special treatment by the locals. If you've had sandwiches outside of LC you can probably skip this one. I went to this place about 30 minutes before closing one day and the man behind the counter was noticeably annoyed that I had crossed his threshold. That attitude pervaded throughout my visit, and I was taking a to-go order. My turkey sandwich was nothing special. I'd say it was even a little minus. Bread, turkey, sparse on everything else and missing things that I thought were supposed to be there, like tomato. The turkey meat had good flavor. I like supporting local businesses so I hope they turn this around.

Got 3 large sandwiches and a salt and vinegar chips. Turkey avocado, the roast beef w cream cheese and olives, and the Italian cold cut. The first and last were the best. They were more than enough for 3 people. They came with pickles. The worker was friendly and explained what was popular bc it was my first time visiting. My brother said smaller sandwiches there with toasted sliced bread and melted cheese were great options.
