Left here feeling very full and very happy. Great place to stop for a quick lunch if you’re driving to or from Waimea Canyon. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The poke here is spot on! I highly recommend the spicy salmon. There is a nice outdoor seating area with picnic benches across the street by the Captain Cook monument. You can’t go wrong. Mahalo, Ishihara Market!
Popular and busy market but they have everything. Heard great things about their poke from locals. Had my share of poke and definitely the best poke I had! We also bought 2 coconut drinks and they switched for cold ones from their fridge. This is a must and returning for my Poke fix whenever we are on the island - hopefully a tradition.
Recommended by a local, we bought a variety of pokes from the store at very good price. Taste as good as any decent restaurant on the island. The nearby statue of Captain James Cook is a worthy spot for a visit.
This is the best place for Poke. My favorite was the sweet chili poke. More sweet than spicy and came with seaweed that had a delightful crunch. Seaweed wasn’t fishy at all and more for texture than taste. Both spicy tuna and shrimp were tasty. Shrimp was moist and fresh and not overcooked.
I’m picky about poke and this was one of the top ones for me. Better than FoodLand. After the Waimea Canyon tour come here for a snack or quick meal.
This is one of my fav markets with a great selection of food and also an amazing deli. It is busy at lunch time on week days. This place has been around for a long time. Culturally a fusion of Asian, Polynesian, and modern food. Very clean market and organized. The staff is comprised of locals and they are friendly.
Poke! Poke poke!!!! Amazing!!! Staff is extremely friendly and willing to answer any questions. Prices are good, cold drink options are top notch. Place to purchase firewood as you head out camping on the west side of Kauai.
A visit to the West Side of Kauai is not complete without going to Ishihara Market. Our family has been coming here for decades. Their poke is delicious and so are their bentos, but you gotta get there early cause they sell out of the bento pretty fast. Our favorite poke includes: menehune poke, spicy shrimp, and the wasabi poke.
The staff is like family. Treat them well! Store hours are a little different now due to short staffing, I believe the sign on the door said new hours of operation are 6:00am-2:00pm, Tues - Sun.
Best poke on the island. Bentos are plentiful. Variety at this store is massive.
Great poke at a good price, mac salad was also really good. Better to get poke and a scoop of rice separately instead of buying their pre made poke bowls as a tip!
Decent prices for sandwiches! It was good too. They carried vegan friendly options for some products as well. No public restroom, but employees were sweet and let us use it for our kids.
