Great spot downtown KC for lunch or dinner. They have a taproom/restaurant on one side and a full-on butcher shop on the other. The menu was well done with great options for anyone. I took advantage of the 1/2 priced apps and sandwiches early bird specials on Monday until 4 pm and ordered the meatballs along with a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The food was fantastic and well priced even before the special. Great place all around.

Excellent steak, chef did a great job. David behind the bar is a great host. Great place with good atmosphere. Just a bit far to go to regularly from UK but worth a re visit next time I’m in KC

Anton’s was nicely decorated and we loved the atmosphere. It was busy but not overly loud. Service was quick, friendly, and helpful. The Wedge salad was delicious! I could have eaten a whole portion of that alone and been happy. My wife had the grain fed KC strip medium rare, the flavor was good (in a sorta muted kinda way) and melt in your mouth. I had the grain fed boneless ribeye medium rare with marrow butter. The flavor was very good but there was a lot of gristle and every bite of the meat was chewy. My wife and I split a baked potato, it was okay. It was nice to see Chimay White on a menu! The crème brûlée dessert was very nice and a good way to finish the meal (forgot to take a picture of it.) The price was reasonable for the quality of most of the meal. Would recommend to others and eat here again my self. I would just pick a different steak next time.

Very cool looking restaurant & butcher shop. Our bartender/waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with picking out our food. It was food happy hour is of course we ordered the sausage plate, Korean rib bites, and the bone marrow appetizer. I also enjoyed the steak soup. After all that food, I ended my lunch with a nice medium rare filet mignon. Come hungry and enjoy Anton’s.

We love this place. It's in a good location in the heart of the city. Paid parking next to the restaurant but super close free street parking is available. They offer grass or grain fed beef that is locally harvested. Anton I believe owns the cattle farm as well. They also have a meat market connected to the restaurant. Higher end dining. The 'fries' are to die for. Potato logs. We got a bread and butter appetizer for 18$ blue cheese butter was amazing.3 diff breads and 3 diff butters, That app felt like it could a been priced 12 or 14 tho. Our sandwiches pictured are roast beef and brisket. Both 16$ come with slaw or fries. The slaw is amazing too. A place where reservations might be a good idea.

Hands down the best steak I've ever had. The Carne asada loaded fries were excellent. The potato skins were like nothing I've tasted before. The smoked gouda and bacon Mac & cheese was out of this world. The burger was amazing.

The restaurant is great. The tap options are fantastic and local. I got the Philly sandwich and coleslaw. The coleslaw was good and everything about the Philly was good …..except the meat. It tasted frozen or something. It was chewy and bland. Sort of a bummer for a place that beef is their focus. Loved the beer options though
Andrew Avilan
Jodi was an excellent bartender.
The gain fed ribeye with Mac and cheese was great!
2nd visit-
We got the Korean bites
Grain fed ribeye with baked potato
Grain fed ribeye with the mac and cheese
3rd edit-
We also now exclusively buy our 90/10 lean ground beef, all our steak cuts and dog feed from the butcher side.
Very well priced for the quality!

Filet was exceptional however rib eye was rather gristly. Mac and cheese unimaginative and small amount for "large" family-style portion $15. Caesar salad was excellent and had anchovies upon request. Wine server suggested was fabulous and great beer selection. Chocolate pudding cake good. Potato skins rather bland. Steak soup had tough meat but flavor was good. Very expensive meal but the server was exceptional and made our first time visit wonderful

FIRST OFF. Such a cool place and such nice people! Big shout out to Chef IVAN and DAVID. We are visiting from Boston and today is our last day and we had Antons on our radar. Amazing experience amazing people thank you for the great service and hospitality.
Praveen and Trev from Boston!!! Thanks again for making our souls enriched in hearty food. We appreciate all the hard work and preparation involved

Well this is my first time coming here and I have to say it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere is very cozy and not too noisy. The hospitality is great and feels genuine. They have a very large selection of alcohol so I'm sure you can find something that your taste buds will like. The food came out in timely manner, so that's a plus. I was able to share a 16oz steak with my significant other and it was more than enough to fill us up. I have to say I'm very impressed with the overall service. BTW the creme brulee is phenomenal, it's definitely a must have dessert. I was on the brink of licking the bowl clean but I had to restrain myself from doing so lol. You won't be disappointed dining here if you're ever in the downtown KC area. Our waiter Chris did an awesome job serving us as well.

I’m in town for work and went to a butcher shop/restaurant- great decision! Started with a delicious steak soup. Had the roast beef sandwich - very good. Potato bun was so soft!!! Homemade horseradish was great (perhaps a little too much, but I love it so no worries for me!). Fries were very large wedges. Temperature was too hot though. That would be the only knock. Atmosphere was not too noisy/bar like at lunch. Server was really good and taking care of the entire room. He did a great job.

Really cool place! Unassuming, compared to the more-upscale steakhouses a few blocks into downtown. The others had 45 Min waits with plenty available seats. Anton's was smaller, but homier. Butcher shop attached, the meat is sourced locally and sustainable is their mantra. And FLAVOR! Short ribs are an absolute must for under $30. Great atmosphere for a big city.

We get to come here once or twice a year when we drive to Missouri to visit family and it's one of the best things we look forward to. Everything we have tried from appetizers, entrees, desserts, drinks, and everything else in between is absolutely amazing! We never get good photos of the food because we dive right in as soon as it hits the table. My only complaint is we live too far away to come here more often!
Neil Spoonhower
Really really enjoyed this place. The most unique Steak Tartar was the most unique I've had. Won't say the best I've had but definitely worth the experience.
I had the Steak Au Poive and it was very very good.
Everyone really enjoyed the experience, our waiter was very good. The beer selection was intense and the atmosphere was perfect. Would definitely put this place on your list.
Travelling Diner
It's a fantastic restaurant built around a working butcher shop. We did not have reservations but found two seats at the bar where service was friendly and paced very well. On our visit they had run out of fried green tomatoes but the grilled peaches were nice replacement. There is outdoor seating if the weather is good and as a side note the women's bathroom is extremely convenient to the bar area. <br/>This is KC after all, if you are of a grilling mindset you can purchase your meats here to prepare at home. This includes grass and grain fed choices.

Horrible experience! Hostesses were so incredibly rude. One turned her back to me so I couldn't even talk to her! Once seated, our food took an hour and fifteen minutes to prepare. Steaks were brought out cold and the sides were mediocre at best. So disappointed in this place. For the money, go to houstons! The food and service do not even compare. Will never go back.
Jim Ferry
Went there last night. Caesar salad lacking taste so I asked for some anchovies. Was told there would an up charge. Spent $184 and they charged me $1 for them. How bad do you think they want me back? How about NEVER!!
Kathy Disterhaupt Schoening
Food was below average and grossly overpriced for the quality. Sides were all over cooked or bland. Salad was good. Service was ok. For a $65 dinner per person - we won't be returning.

Totally not worth it!. Rarely have I given one star. Lets start with what was good. The weather was wonderful today, and they had the windows open and a nice breeze was coming in...<br/><br/>Service... Well When I asked about the Carpaccio, our waiter informed us it was summer sausage and salami for the evening. Um, Raw summer sausage. I think not... (I'm sure he was just mistaken, but after that announcement of the special, I thought we would just move to dinner). Water Glasses were empty and not refilled the entire evening. <br/><br/>Food. Ordered the Mac-N-Cheese and the Zucchini as sides... The mac and cheese, while a good flavor, clearly had sat for a while without the benefit of a heating lamp.. it has that cheese skin on top, and was almost room temperature. The Zucchini was overcooked to the point it almost puree'd itself.. Alas, lets talk about the steaks! Both Steaks were salted to death. the #1 taste was salt. I ordered mine medium. I would to consider a cold purple interior to be medium... The other bone-in-ribeye, also ordered medium, was clearly mid-well. slight pink interior. When we pointed this out (after we stopped eating) the waiter simply said "oh, yeah you're right. Sorry"<br/><br/>Aside from the poor service, and the rather poorly prepared food... the evening was great! Nice Breeze, good company, and a nice drive home afterwards!<br/><br/>For the money, I'd enjoy Capital Grille in a second. For the Service... same. Honestly... I'd go to outback steak house before returning.

So-so (overpriced) steaks. I used to love Anton's when they first opened. To me, their steaks were the best in town and the service has always been friendly. But having been there a number of times, the steaks are inconsistent and way overpriced. Last night, we ordered two rib-eye steaks, both medium-rare. My steak was rare & very chewy and the other steak was medium-rare but not very flavorful. My steak had a decent crust but was poorly & inconsistently seasoned. They couldn't even get that part right. If it was the first time that this had happened, I could understand but I've had so-so steaks there before and for $107 + tip, this was one the worst one yet. I doubt I will go back except maybe for a beer.

Three dollars for ICE??!!. Went to Anton's Saturday night and while the food was excellent and the service was acceptable I was stunned when I received my bill. While I know most of the items are ala carte, I did not expect that to include the drinks. I ordered a Dewars on the rocks, and while $7 for a Dewars is a bit expensive I was OK with it. But when I was charged $3 for "ROCKS" I was flabbergasted. Since I had two drinks I was charged $6 for ice (which was free in the ice water I was served with the meal). I think this is ridiculous and while this was the third time I have been there, I can assure you it will be the last. Maybe people don't notice this charge or are fine with it, but $6 for frozen water is beyond my tolerance level. Enjoyed the food but not the ripoff!!

Unfortunate Experience. I went to Anton's for lunch with 4 other co-workers. It was Friday, and at the time we arrived, there was only 8 or 10 people in the restaurant. We had eaten lunch there before on a couple of other occasions and, although the service was slow, we decided to give it another try. To make a long story short, we made a mistake going back.<br/><br/>The service was beyond slow. We went for lunch and all of us ordered burgers with exception to one pork chop. Start to finish, it took nearly an hour and a half to order, get our food, eat, get our tickets and pay. The food was okay and over-priced. One of the guys in our party ordered a burger, plain, well done. What was delivered was cooked medium at best and the bun was red with all the blood it soaked up from the meat. Needless to say, he sent it back. When they delivered his meal the second time, it was not plain (had all the condiments and vegetables on it), so he sent it back again and asked him to just forget it as the rest of the group was nearly done eating. The guy at the grill who appeared to be a managing chef took the burger, scraped the stuff off into the trash, slapped the bun on it and sent it back out. Side note, we were sitting at a table with a clear view of the cooking staff. He refused again and told the waiter again that he didn't want it and to take it off of his bill. The waiter never once offered to comp his meal or anything and when he received his bill, they actually charged him for the small cup of mac-n-cheese he was actually able to eat.<br/><br/>We will not be going back to Anton's again. Lesson learned.
Erik Hisserich
Over-Priced steak. Went here with a co-worker because we heard it was a good steak. $40 for a grain-fed, dry-aged 14OZ strip steak was ridiculous. I've had flank steak that was cooked better and had more flavor.<br/><br/>Good beer selection, baked potato and seasonal veggies were good but if you want a great steak - GO somewhere else.
Alysensimmons
Go somewhere else..... If you want OVERPRICED food for TINY portions this is the place for you. Everything is à la carte and you pay $7 for a teacup size of slaw/veggies. The waiter we had was clueless on what drinks were good and the wait staff in general weren't all that friendly. Go anywhere else.....you get more value for your meal at an upscale restaurant such as the Capital Grille. You live and you learn.....now we know to never return.

Incredible food and atmosphere. Went to Anton's a couple of weeks ago for lunch. Really like the feel of the place and the decor. The beer selection is awesome, and the service was great. The food absolutely blew me away. My fiancee had the fish tacos with talapia from their own self-sustaining farm. The fish was amazing, the cilantro was ultra fresh, and they came with a delicious roasted salsa. I had the steak burger with blue cheese sauce and grilled onion. It was to die for. This was some of the best steak meat I'd ever had, and the blue cheese and grilled onions were intentionally toned down so that the steak could shine. We were happy with our service and loved our meal. Definitely will be going back, next time for a hand-carved steak. <br/><br/>Truly, weeks later, I'm still thinking about how good that steak burger was...

Great food and service. Celebrated my B-day there with family. All seven of us had steaks some grass-fed, others grain fed, some aged, some not. All were delicious. The service was spot on. Our server was attentive and very helpful with recommendations. Great selection of beers and reasonably priced wine list.
Julie
Really enjoyed our meal. Had the grass-fed bone in ribeye which I split with my husband. It was done to perfection. I've had a lot of steak in my years but this one ranks near the top. I love the wine list with glasses starting at 7.00. The beer menu is great and you can get 1.00, 2.00 and 3.00 samples of the beers so you can try a variety. It is loud and busy. It has a comfortable, casual feel which I like. I will say that the smoked Gouda and bacon Mac and cheese side I had tasted a bit gluey. But our salad and rib eye were outstanding.

The beer selection very good, wine selection was good and the steak was fabulous. Wow. One of the best steaks I've ever had. My wife and I split a 25 oz or so ribeye on the bone. I need to come back.
Espejismo9
Gross. I still can't get that horrible taste out of my mouth. Had the steak burger, and it tasted like a dirty kitchen towel. Service was mediocre. "Jersey Shore" type patrons, cougars and shlubs. Smelled like a Denny's after leaving. Will not visit again.
JJ Stratton
Mediocre for the price. Been there twice. first time was decent enough, but the service was fairly sub-par. second time, their cook seemed unable to cook a simple burger med-rare. sent it back after finding the burger mostly raw. they made me a new one that I had to take to go, but when I got back to the office I found the second one to also be charred on the outside but raw on the inside. go there for the drinks
Epicurious
Rude bartender. Doesn't matter whether a place is decent. When staff is rude to a customer, I will avoid this place for a future option. It is too bad when one employee's bad attitude hurts everyone trying to make a go of a business. Never again.
Lori Ketter Becker
Lorazip. Heard the steaks were great. I only have steak a few times a year so I am picky when I do. The atmosphere was okay - more like an old warehouse casual bar place. I ordered the grass-fed 28 day-ages rib eye. I have to say I think it might have been one of the best steaks I ever had. it was so tender and really really tasty. on the other hand, they really need to have a few healthy sides....it was all carbs, carbs, carbs and mostly fried stuff. Even the carrot were glazed in tons of sugar. just a nice salad and a good green vegetable would be great appreciated. The service - uhm - ok. guy was kind of rude and not much help helping the table pick beers and wines.....but everyone did like the wine and beer that they did get.
Mark
Went for first time and was very disappointed. Had the pork sand. It was good but the fries were awful. Had a glass of wine and got three sips from it. Had a guest so I did not send it back. Spent 50 and it was not worth it. Bummer!!!

Enjoyed our dinner here with friends. We split a couple of appetizers and some wine. No complaints on the shrimp cocktail or the smoked salmon and the wine was very nice, salads were good though I ordered one specifically because it mentioned apples and the apples in the salad were substituted with strawberries-strawberries are alright but I was really wanting apple (and really, it wasn't a very inspiring salad). Since everything is a la carte probably the server should have mentioned the substitution. Our entrees came, the steaks and burgers were excellent. I think that the restaurant is great my only suggestion would be to offer a few more offerings in the under $20.00 range and have a little larger selection of items in general, I found the menu somewhat limited. Dinner was good though, my husband really liked it, and we would probably return.

One of my new KC favorites. There are so many things I love about this place, so I thought I'd make it easy with a simple list: <br/> - Delicious, thoughtfully-prepared food (Seriously, they have an herb garden and fish farm in lower level, and they cut steak right when you order it)<br/> - Friendly, funny, knowledgeable and attentive staff<br/> - EXCELLENT beer selection and wine on tap!<br/> - Stylish atmosphere that's both classic and trendy at the same time<br/> - Comfortable patio with plenty of seating and a soothing fountain wall (that also functions to cool the building, I've heard)<br/> - Environmentally conscious (see many of the above points)<br/> - Great location near the Crossroads Art District<br/><br/>I'm not a big meat person, but the meals I've had here are outstanding. Even simple items like their BLT lunch special was amazing. Really, my only complaint is their lack of non-meat options. My mostly vegetarian friends and I would go there even more if they had more veg-friendly options. Even so, this place is great for a pleasant happy hour, even if you don't plan to dine. One of my new favorite hangs, for sure.

Decent... Service - clumsy.... Decent... <br/>Service - clumsy, untrained, and unprofessional <br/>Atmosphere - decent... Could use a dimmer switch, music and curtains to cover up the food storage area next to restrooms <br/>Food - wonderful

Great time!. Really tasty food, great prices, easy access for our group of 8. superb beer selection...will definitely be back soon!
Paul Hunt
Go there now! Great vibe, great surroundings and superb food and drink. Awesome beer selection and dishes to delight

They have quite a system to raise talapia in the restaurant's basement, aquaponic. Lots on tap, good meat.
John Leach
Admittedly, I had built Anton's up quite a bit, and it still lived up to everything that I had hoped that it would be!
Mary Bloch
Originally built as a grocery store, the building at 1610 Main now houses Anton’s Taproom and Restaurant . The name is a misnomer because the owner’s vision encompasses so much more. Upon entering the building for the first time I was greeted by a waiter who offered us a tour of the “grounds”. We visited a second floor art gallery, a basement aquaphonic tank for raising tilapia, an outdoor bar and garden, a butcher shop and, oh yeah, the dining room and bar. The bar runs the length of the room with more than 65 beers on tap, 2 wines on tap and a whole array of bottles lining the wall. Meats on the menu come from the butcher shop which offers seating for overflow from the dining room, or perhaps for those who want a somewhat quieter ambiance. Protein dishes come unadorned. No sauce, no sides; just the meat, chicken or scallops. Steaks are ordered by the ounce, though there is an 8 ounce minimum. There’s a choice of grass or grain fed beef, and dry age
