I hesitate to do a review because this is a local treasure. The food is absolutely delicious. They use local seafood and produce. It seems everyone on the island knows about this place and I would hate to see it get overcrowded. On the other hand, I want them to be successful. They sell local craft items in the same room as the dining. If you can picture a niche Cracker Barrel, only with much better food, this is it. Many low country specialties are available. At lunch, there is a selection of about thirty sides and I have never had one that wasn't great. Love this place.
I'd try to recommend the best dish here, but they are all SO GOOD! Tomato pie, macncheese, grits, green beans...all so flavorful and rich. The coconut cream cake is the best in the low-country! Service is friendly, relaxed, and efficient.
I had heard many reviews and suggestions from a local facebook page to try this out and we're glad we made the stop on the way back from the beach. No need to be dressed up, and perfect portions! You feel like you're eating on your grandparents porch. I will say the tomato pie was a let down because I was expecting some sort of bread or crust to go with it but it was mostly onions and tomatoes. Great staff and knowledgeable on the food!
The shrimp plate was the best thing we ate there!
Absolutely love this place! We visit Charleston once or twice every year and we always make a trip to the Tomato Shed Cafe. The she crab soup is the best I've ever had. We love the strawberry beet salad and the tomato pie. The strawberry bread pudding is divine. Everything is delicious!
Some of the best freshest veggies I've had in a long time!! The Crab salad was so good and the Crab cake was delicious 😋. Have to go back so I can try more!!
If you are in the area of Wadmalaw Island, Seabrook or Kiawah do not pass up having a wonderful and tasty meal! Huge side selections from collard greens to butter beans and even macaroni & cheese! The Chicken salad sandwich was awesome!!
This is a great place for vegetarians, lots of choices to pick from, $14 for 4 vegetable plate. Comes with great corn bread. Waitress was very good! They also have ready to go dishes ready to eat on the market side, along with fresh vegetables and bakery items. The gift shop has some nice local artisan pieces. Super cute swinging sofas on front porch. Perfect stop for lunch on the way to tea tour and winery.
The food here is outstanding. Tons of vegetable options for the vegetarian‘s, as well as amazing crabcake and barbecue. The tomato pie was to die for and don’t miss the hummingbird cake if they have it on special. adorable little shop with lots of homemade little items as well as the market store where we picked up some fresh vegetables and seasonings for dinner. Have to comment on the environmental toilet that runs warm water for you to rinse your hands and then fills up the toilet.
Stono Market and tomato shed cafe is a Great local restaurant with fresh ingredients!
This restaurant has a small fresh produce grocery and frozen ready to cook meal.
They also sell local artists products, kitchen towel, Christmas ornaments, etc.
Now for the food, we ordered their famous crab cake and tomato pie and had to admit, they were delicious! The shrimp salad sandwich was good with their homemade sourdough bread.
The mixed green citrus salad was fresh and their she crab soup is one of the best in charleston (it was so good I ate them all and didn’t take a picture).
Honestly everything were fresh and so filling.
Also, try their homemade lemonade its so good!
We’ll definitely coming back to try other food in this restaurant!
We were in search of Great Crab cakes. 🦀 Stono Market kept coming to the forefront of all reviews. We were staying in Folly Beach and it was only a 30 minute drive, so we decided to go see the Angel Oak tree and then stop for Lunch at Stono Market. We (a party of 4) were seated promptly and served drinks promptly. The hostess and servers were Oh so friendly. We all had Crab Cakes, Squash Casarole, Tomato 🍅 Pie, and Macaroni & Cheese. The Best on all!!! Weather a destination trip or in the area for vacation, don't deprive yourself this exceptional spot.
Very good! Waitresses were so kind to me and my dog. The sweet tea, cucumber and dill, tomato pie, and broccoli salad were delicious. Great for vegetarian
We went to the Stono Market & Cafe for lunch. We where immediately greeted and offered a seat. The feeling was we where treated like family and not just customers. We had the Tomato Shad Shrimp with onions, green and red peppers, just enough spice for a little kick. The Country Fried steak was hand breaded with a pepper gravy. We had the tomato pie, a true southern favorite, and just as good as my grandmother’s recipe. The service from Ginny was impeccable, truly a place that makes you feel like home, at least one of the locals. As a suggestion, skip the chain restaurants and head to the Stono Market & Tomato Shad Cafe for delightful and filling dining experience. This is a “must go to” place when in the Charleston SC area.
