The pastries are amazing. The croissants, bread etc are flaky and fresh they melt in your mouth. The service was ok, nothing to brag about. The two young ladies there are not the friendliest but I guess they are doing their job.
I would have given the place a five unfortunately they don’t have the means to heat up your pastries.
It was worth the 22 mile drive.

This shop was very cute! I enjoyed the selections of products along with the food I got. I got a half loaf and it seemed like it still went bad quickly. The brownie I got was very delicious; great blend of salty meets sweet chocolate. The person there was nice and told us about the special along with some conversation! Great place, will be fun to come back.

Amazing pastries! The chocolate croissant is to die for. Nothing bad on the menu, and friendly staff!

One of the best bakeries in indy!
My favorite are croissants, pecan cookies, cinnamon rolls, semolina loaf, also this apple brioche tart is amazing. Kind of prefer their dessert more than savory pastries.. I recommend going there as early as u can coz many options will be sold out in the afternoon.

We ordered breakfast from Amelia’s recently to see if their breakfast sandwiches were worth the hype they get.
I got the sausage sandwich and let me tell ya, that thing was INSANE! The amount of egg that they put on it is crazy! The sandwich overall was awesome. I also got a cinnamon roll on the side which was also incredible!
This was definitely a great experience. I’ll easily try their breakfast sandwich again when I can.

Wow their bread and pastries are amazingly delicious!
I got a croissant, a pain au Chocolat, a spinach croissant, quign aman and a half pain de Mie , country loaf.
Everything is so good and tasty. And price is so reasonable.
Wish they open their branch in Downtown Chicago.
Staffs were very friendly and nice, too.

Time to update this review with a little more depth. Connected to Bluebeard, this gem produces some of the finest breads and treats in all of Indy...rivaled only by the Blue Oven Bakery in Cincinnati.
Baguettes, specialty loaves, Cranberry-Walnut bread, croissants, oatmeal pecan cookies, panforte (Christmas time), and so much more. Everything is good...everything. My only wish is that they had a location up north in Carmel.
It's a little on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for. Get whole loaves, half loaves, and sliced/unsliced. They do have a small selection of meats, cheeses, and Italian good in the store as well. If they sold wine it could be a one stop shop for a nice outing in the park.

This is a small and lovely bakery. My friends and I are hooked on their brownies. They always have samples in case you want to try something before buying. And don't even get me started on their bread 🍞. And they are very professional, sweet, and caring. They actually take time to tell you all the ingredients they used to bake something and the health benefits of some of the ingredients ( if you are into making healthy choices).

Very tasty bread and pastries as well as local groceries. Really enjoyed the chocolate croissant, bread, zucchini pastry, and the shortbread and baguette were fine also. I also love that they are open later in the day. The staff is always kind and have good recommendations!

This place is amazing. I got the Capocollo Twist which was the most amazing savory croissant have ever had with the perfect amount of saltness coming from the Italian find meat and cheese. I also had the orange Dreamsicle croissant, well, the first white bite was underwhelming. The second bite have explosion of amazing feeling, which led me very disappointed when I took my last bite.
I must say, Indiana does not have much going for it, but for someone who travels across the country to try patisseries for a living, this is Indiana’s redeeming factor.

I hope the Virginia location isn’t suffering quality by opening of it’s new locations! They have the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had! Today, unfortunately it did not taste the same, thick, hard cookie.

Love their online ordering and curbside pickup. Super helpful for disabled folks or those who are neurodivergent. Products are delicious and their grocery and bulk items are accessible. Favorites include the laminated cinnamon buns, savory city loaf, kouign amann, morning buns, and capicolo twists.

The greatest bread, pastries, and pantry items in the most charming storefront.
Amelia's bread has become an absolute staple in my household--we enjoy it nearly every day.

Amelia's bakery is on point everytime. Whoever is baking deserves a raise. Minus one star because with these prices, they should definitely have a rewards card for frequent breaded goods buyers. Also on more than one occasion we ordered and the order was lost or not recorded

Absolutely amazing bakery. Super easy curbside pickup in their side alley. The bread smells and tastes incredible. Not pictured cinnamon roll croissant because I ate it immediately and couldn't put it down, so delicious. Highly recommend for authentic artisan bread lovers, and everyone else.
Edited to add my cats are obsessed with the oversized paper bag. Everyone is happy.

We swing in and get stuff every time we are in Indy in the morning! As past bakery owners we try to find good shops and patronize them when we can. Glad we saw that short paragraph in Bon Appétit mag 6 or so years ago, it has always been worth the time to get off the interstate and come in.

All the brunch spots were pretty filled up so I was hopeful for this alternative and my hope was not misplaced. I recommend something savory and something sweet. I can't remember the exact names of them but I got a rectangular croissant type pastry with mint goat cheese and pea sprouts and an oatmeal walnut cookie. As hard as it was to eat with my hands and not a fork and knife because of the sprouts. It was DELICIOUS.
The issue people have with oatmeal raisin cookies is the raisin so naturally there's none inside but amazing perfectly sweet and salty tastes. It's really hard for me to not go back in and get more.
The store was a little hard to find for me so if College Ave is behind you and you see Pivot across the street, keep going and it'll be on your right

Just bought the semolina sour dough. The woman at the counter was so helpful, and the bread is delicious. I love it. I lived in Europe for 6.5 years, and zi became spoiled by the fresh bread there. Makes me so happy that Amelia's is on par.

You can't go wrong with the sweet...oh sooo yummy pastries! Knowing how to pair the bread with other foods is key. Their bread is far better than anything you buy in a grocery store. Don't skip this bakery. A must try!

It's hard to pick a favorite! It's the best crusty hearty bread you'll ever eat!
Michael Patrick Gobiel
Love Amelia’s! New to Indianapolis and friends couldn’t stop raving about this scratch bakery and I can see why. They just won a permanent customer!!
Jennifer Cook Savage
The semolina loaf is the best bread I’ve ever had. I almost don’t want to sully it by dipping it in soup, but the flavours are not diminished by doing so. I miss the kouign-amann they used to offer, but the gorgeous croissants (chocolate or plain) are just as brilliant. Thank you!

Since learning about Amelia's while attending the farmer's market at Lawrence North High School, I've seldom purchased bread at any box store. The Cranberry Walnut loaf is so delicious it's probably outlawed in some states, though I purchase the semolina bread more often, my go-to sandwich bread.
If I'm dining in the Indy area and learn they're not serving Amelia's, I think twice about returning. If they do serve Amelia's, well, I become a regular.
Michelle Morgan
Got my loaf at the BR farmers market today! So excited as the Semolina is my favorite!
Emily Kimmel
We had the city loaf, cranberry walnut, chocolate buckwheat cookie, croissants and a ham and cheese croissant and they were all delicious. Will definitely be back. You can tell they really care about what they're doing.
Joe Reese
My wife and I stopped by while heading to get coffee next door at Calvin Fletcher's. We ended up pairing some pastries with the great coffee and sat out on the patio nearby. It was just awesome. We live on the other side of the city, so it's tough to get over that way very often. When we do, we will absolutely be back in for pastries and some breads to take home.
Sonya Weber
I sometimes hesitate to cut into a loaf of Amelia's bread because it's so beautifully baked. But that hesitation passes quickly knowing I get to taste the roasted garlic and rosemary or rosemary olive bread!! Everything is better on Amelia's!
Marti Vincze Rodriguez
I always come back for Semolina and the Cranberry Walnut bread, those are my favorites. They make excellent grilled cheese sandwiches. I don't buy regular bread anymore, I prefer Amelia's over any other bread. They have great taste, they stay fresh for a long time.
Dana Lembcke
Best Chocolate Croissant of my life. Fresh bread and nice staff!
Darren Chittick
Amazing breads, gf buckwheat all-the-chocolate cookies that will change your life, and stinky cheese. I love this place!
Heather Polly Parrett
Wonderful cookies and pastries. AMAZING croissants and local honey! Not to mention the City Sourdough bread. Such a gem!
Jen Holscher
Do try the browned butter chocolate chip cookie! So good.
