Hadn't been in a while, but one taste of their special ribs and I vowed to come back with husband in tow just for that! Came with friends for lunch and servings were generous. Lunch came with complimentary soup. Dining room was spacious and clean, a good space between tables. Our server was efficient.
Wanted to try a new spot for traditional Asian cuisine without a buffet and I nailed it! Excellent house special fried rice, the shrimp was melting in my mouth it was so fresh. Got the Moo Pai pork and crab steamed dumplings, crab was undetectable but still good nonetheless. Finally on to the pepper steak, very tender and big chunks of red and green peppers which I liked. Overall it was a clean atmosphere without the clanking of dishes you get with a buffet type setting and I will definitely be coming back here.
Shared a great meal of dumplings, scallion pancake and sesame chicken with a friend and we both loved it. Plenty of food and everything cooked fresh. We were even able to bring the rest of our green tea home too. Can't wait to come back to try something more traditional.
I had the Shanghai style egg rolls. First time I had that particular variation. Loved the flavor, as it uses a healthy amount of mushroom as a key ingredient. Thought the flavor was really good. I also had the Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings). Very good broth, good texture. Maybe a little heavy with the dough, but not terribly so at least. I'll definitely give this place another shot when I'm back in town.
The food here was excellent. I tried the chicken with vegetables which came with a very generous pot of of fresh steamed white rice. Also ordered the wonton soup which was very flavorful and the wontons were fresh and soft. I also had the BBQ pork steamed buns, very delicious. Everything tasted very authentic and the price was very inexpensive. Paid around $21 for all this food and had a lot to take home with me. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I'm so glad my mom and I stumbled in here years ago. A couple eating near us explained shanghainese (he said it like that) food, a little history, the flavor profile of food from Shanghai and how it's different than the more upfront flavors of Chinese food from the Sichuan province that Americans probably expect from Chinese restaurants. That, coupled with the food, was an awesome first experience. I'll never forget it and am grateful someone was kind and open to strangers. I've shared dishes I've gotten for takeout with a few, choice people but I don't share the location because selfishness basically. I'm leaving this review for whoever discovers this place on their own and hesitates to go in. Prewarning: if you're picky, unaccustomed to their flavors/ingredients or being ok with trying a other dish if the one your order doesn't hit the mark, this may not work for you. I don't think most menu items, flavors and ingredients are that adventurous as it's supposed to be more subtle/gentle flavors but not everyone has my taste buds. Plus, they have dishes with XO sauce and that goes great on pretty much any meat. I will mention one dish, the Sautéed string beans: the way they make it and whatever they use is so good and not too salty to me. Still trying to casually get the recipe for this dish, only because I love it so much.
My friend reserved two tables for lunch. Ten persons at one table including four children. Eight persons at the other table, all adults. Every dish was so good and authentic except for the Peking duck, something was just not right about it. Of course, she ordered way too many dishes, including the flesh of the fish stomach which she had to order the day before. She ordered the dishes individually instead of one of the set family dinners. This picture only shows some of the dishes.
Where to begin...... Amazing food nothing quite like it in all Chinatown. Try the spicy chicken or the Cummin Lam. No matter what you order you will not be disappointed. Great for large groups. Come and get your aunthentic Chinese food fix.
Best soup dumplings in all of Houston. Great customer service! The beef with pepper is so good! A must try for anyone who wants authentic Chinese food.
Great food! Try the xiao long bao, the fried rice and fried red bean dessert were very good too. The owner was very sweet & took the time to talk to us!
