One of the best Sichuan cuisine I have had in Houston. My daughter loved the xiao long bao- soup filled pork dumplings. We are spoiled for taste having previously lived in Singapore. This was a treat. A must visit for delicious Taiwanese/Cantonese food.
I went last night and ordered ALL the dumplings! The soup dumplings are REALLY tasty - I wish they were a tiny bit bigger, like the ones in NYC, but still really good flavor and super yummy. The hot & sour soup is fantastic, as are the 20-minute crispy bottom dumplings, probably some of the best bao dumplings I’ve had in AWHILE. Really good, I will definitely will be back!
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The outside, at first glance, looked like an old house or mechanic's garage. BUT, the inside is beautifully and elegantly designed. The staff are very nice the minute you walk in until you leave. The food was delectable! I had to get some help from the waiter, but she made some great recommendations. The food was PACKED with flavor, and every dish was better than the next. Do yourself a favor and give this place a shot. Yo won't regret it.
First time eating here and my first experience with soup dumplings. They were absolutely delicious!! I'm typically not a soup fan of any kind but this place was awesome!! We had several different kinds, even got a bottle of Saki. I also highly suggest the deep fried green beans to start with. Make sure you also try the Crispy Bottom Pork Bao.
We'll definitely be back soon!!
Best xiao long bao in town! We’ve been here several times and will keep coming back. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, 5 stars all the way. West lake soup, scallion pancake, pork crispy bottom bao, pork xiao long bao, dry fried green beans are always on our table whenever we come to eat here. This time we added the dancing beef, chef’s kiss! The meat is tender, vegetables are fresh and the sauce is perfect for the rice crackers. Also, I really like the dry-fried green beans because it’s crispy and the Schezuan pepper taste isn’t over powering. Will definitely keep coming back!
You can't go wrong ordering their classics or even adventuring outside of the usual. We shared all the dishes and they were ALL fantastic!
Their sticky rice cubes dessert is a must try.
Came here for my friends graduation celebration! Food was okay, decor was nice, the company the best. Can be a wait at times. 4/5
The inside was so pretty and the staff was great! Ordered the stir fry steak and soup dumplings! The stir fry steak was good, but the soup dumplings weren't as good as I was expecting. Maybe the shrimp soup dumplings are better, but I guess I was expecting a different taste since I had it first in New York a couple times. Overall, I really enjoyed my food and time here! Again, the interior was so cute and the staff was very friendly!
Beautiful decor and ample seating for big groups. Service was prompt, and food came out fast.
I had their signature Pork Xiao Long Bao, Colorful Dumpling Adventure, Jasmine Tea Fried Rice, Pineapple Chicken Ball, Rice Wine Braised Fish Filet, and the Chinese traditional dessert Pearls in Floral Rice Wine.
The Pork Xiao Long Bao was really good. The skin was thin, the pork filling and the soup inside the dumpling were flavorful. Definitely the best Xiao Long Bao I tried in Houston. As for the colorful dumplings, each was filled with ingredients at every corner of the dumpling skin. The dumplings were not too bad if you want something different. All the dumplings have to be eaten while they are hot.
The Jasmine Tea Fried Rice was good. I could taste Jasmine tea in the dish. The fried rice had the wok taste which was tough to get. The pineapple chicken ball dish was similar to the sweet and sour pork dish. The only difference is instead of pork, it is chicken. The dish tasted good, and the chicken was cooked well. The best dish, in my opinion, was the Braised Fish Filet. The sauce was starchy, mild spicy, and flavorful. Mix some sauce into a bowl of white rice… Perfect… The fish filet was soft, smooth, and perfectly cooked. Awesome dish!
I had to have dessert after every meal. Surprisingly the Pearls in Floral Rice Wine dessert wasn’t sweet. It is probably due to the spiciness from the rice wine, which was prominent in the dessert. The dessert was a little starchy but the texture was good. Definitely have to eat it while it is hot. This dessert is perfect to end the meal.
I exited the restaurant with a highly satisfied stomach. I will be back.
Everything we tried was good, but by far the dancing pork belly takes the win. Soooo good!
This place is amazing!!! I had no plan on going to Wanna Bao that day until a friend invited my husband and I. I am glad we went because the food was super delicious. A lot of the items are spicy but you can also find non-spicy food. I personally do not like spicy food and I found dishes that I could eat, and they were delicious.
We started the evening with chicken fried rice (too spicy for me), but everyone else loved it. Then we ordered Pork Crispy Bottom Bao. The crispy bottom were amazing. I highly recommend that you order these. Then we ordered Pork Xiao Long Bao. They were very hot (temperature) but very delicious. We also ordered the Beef in Brown Sauce (not spicy) and it comes with steamed rice. The beef was very tender and the flavor was on point.
If you haven't try Wanna Bao you must. Every item did not dissapoint. The service was great and fast. Oh and if you like beer like me, they were COLD!! I love a cold beer.
Good job Wanna Bao! I will definitely be back this time with my parents.
Yuh! 10/10
Order the mixed soup dumplings and the dancing beef
If you like Mopo Tofu it's also the best I've had
