La Madeleine

Food is excellent as always, but since my last Uber order a year ago the prices have gone up about 33% and the portion sizes have gone down about 33-50%. I know costs have gone up but most other restaurants seem to have handled the disastrous economy by either charging consumers more or reducing portions, not both.

I visited La Madeleine on Thursday, October 26th 2023 around 8:45 AM. The service for me from the cashier was good & the food was delicious. However, the customer in front of me was served poorly. She was a little bit elderly Hispanic lady with an accent & the cashier I could see was rude to her, looking at her dollar bill if it was legitimate & rolling his eyes at me when the lady couldn't understand him fully & had to repeat what he said. I felt like he was being racist towards her. Just a note of what I observed. Needless to say, every customer should be treated equally whether you are an immigrant or not.

Re-visited this location twice now. 8/26/23. Really good food Had the French dip and mushroom soup. Both were great. Fresh and piping hot. I'm glad I started coming back. Breakfast is great too. I get the Nouveau breakfast, yummy. Avocado toast super fresh and egg made to order, and what doesn't go with bacon. I've been coming to La Madeleine here in Kingwood for over 7 yrs. Today was quite a disappointment. Everyone was a little discombobulated. I ate with my daughter and spent $28. I had the french onion soup, it was cold, the soup didn't even melt the cheese it comes with. My daughter had the tomato basil soup, also cold. I had the french dip. I asked for extra au jus, nope they ran out. This at 1 pm. No manager seemed to be around and the staff not really caring. What a disappointment. This place used to be great and I used to have great memories.

Our doctors are in the HEB center across the street. So we cross over for breakfast or lunch most of the time. Even when we are watching our calories we can split a meal that has great flavor instead of cardboard diet food. My wife and I like their soup and salad along with the bread. They have good lunch specials with 3 items that is our go to. We have been in Kingwood for 40 years and enjoy eating here. On cool nights we stop in for coffee and a pastry by the fireplace.
