Chicken Gumbo was top notch. Good bite to it but not too spicy. Joeys fish and chips were great too. Crispy and moist. Slaw had a bit too mUch mayonnaise for my liking though. Highly recommend.
I finally got to a restaurant in the UP were I thought I'd get to try White Fish. Only to learn by 6:15 PM, they were completely out. They still had a few servings of Lake Trout. The trout was enjoyable, the garlic butter potatoes were also flavorful. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I inquired about were the locals went for breakfast. She had a name and two of the locals nodded in the agreement. So , Joey's brings in the locals, that has to be a plus. I have one more day to find some White Fish.
Reasonably priced. Lobster Alfredo was really good. The lemon pepper white fish was watery but good flavor. Onion rings were really good. I would recommend!
No complaints. Good food. Good service. The ambiance is a little childish, but doesn't detract from the meal. Alcoholic beverages were poured a bit heavy handed, not that I'm complaining!
Great Food!. It's always a pleasure eating at Joey's. The Thursday night all-you-can-eat shrimp special is awesome! My favorite regular item is the halibut, NOT the halibut with the crust on it though. The one that's similar to the regular fish n chips is the one I mean. It's a bit spendy, but once you try it you'll quickly agree that it's well worth it. Crab cakes are delicious as well. Menu is full of great food to try.
Food and service were very good! Price is a good value. One change I recommend is dimmer lighting.
Clam chowder was awesome and super hot. Walleye was breaded perfectly and also perfectly hot. Service was fantastic.
Excellent fresh fish and great hand battered rings and mushrooms. Ryan was friendly and gave the best service. BTW, the U.S. chain no longer exists so this is run as an independent restaurant.
Yes, this place is a chain. And it is OK. Avoid popcorn chicken, it is enormous pieces of random chicken parts, heavily breaded. Staff was decent.
Very pleasant place. One of the reviews said it's a chain, but it didn't seem like one. My husband really liked his fish & chips, and my halibut was good.
Good atmosphere even when it took a little bit of time for us to get a table... The place was packed so we must've come at rush hour. The food was actually really good but a little pricier in some entrees.
The crew was very welcoming and attentive, which is always appreciated 👍🏼
Delightful fishing-village styled eatery in downtown Houghton. They had a gluten free menu too! Our server was awesome and our party of four enjoyed the original fish sandwich & the grilled whitefish. Sides includes fries, hush puppies (what a treat!) & the best onion rings. Fish was excellent, though there could have been less bun. All in all a great lunch.
Joey’s segued and grill is absolutely the best. The food taste amazing, and the service was great. We were fortunate to be able to sit in the window. The food tasted amazing the gumbo is absolutely to die for. If I lived closer it would definitely be a weekly date night spot!
Amazing service and food!
Everything was good, but I love, love the red beans n rice as well as the amazing Key Lime pie!!
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere! My fiance had the whitefish w/beans and I had the Lake superior trout w/ wild rice. Both were very good and we left full and satisfied. This was our 2nd time at Joey's and was just as good as the 1st time. Definitely recommend!
Cheesy artichoke was 👍. Fish n chips was 👍. Baked Haddock flavoring was alright, but was served *lukewarm*. Hard cider was local, which is nice, but wow it was like 6.9% alco.
Can I talk about menu design? Sometimes you're just going through pages of menus and you have no idea what to get. "Joey" starred their favorites and I have no regrets from choosing among them.
The service was great. I had an outstanding server . The garlic shrimp was good. I would have liked Jumbo for the price . How ever it was good .
Went on a Monday night and it was absolutely hopping. Great, fun atmosphere with staff always coming around to check on you. I got the coconut shrimp with garlic potatoes and onion rings and my friend got chicken Alfredo with garlic bread. Everything was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge. A little pricey but hey, delicious seafood in the U.P. of Michigan with a great atmosphere and fun staff. 10/10 will definitely be going again.
Loved this restaurant! The food and service were great. We were in town unexpectedly and relied on Google reviews to direct us to this place, and we're so glad for it. It's not a stuffy, white tablecloth type of place. You can relax, have good conversation, and enjoy a very delicious meal. Staff had great suggestions and were friendly without becoming overbearing. I wish we lived closer, we'd be back often.
The appetizers were big portions and all food was flavored good. The service was great. The decor is very nice and there is a front and rear entrance.
