Omakase! Top grade! No complaints, wishing I had a bottomless stomach to eat more. Very intimate no frills straight to the sushi. Has a closed set time but if you keep eating and drinking they will keep serving. A place if you’re serious about quality over quantity.

This is possibly the best sushi restaurant in the entire state. Expect an authentic Japanese experience. The owner and sushi chef barely speaks English but is super skilled and interesting. His wife is super polite and knows her sakes very well. It's omakase only (definitely get the one with sashimi), seats 8 people, and you have to stop the chef when you're full otherwise he'll keep preparing sushi for you. Go on an empty belly and try as much as possible!

This place is amazing!!! Not only is the sushi soooo good, but so is the service. Our server, George, was so attentive, never let us go without, and did it all with a smile! Seriously, if you decide to visit you need to ask for George! So happy we live right across the street and get to eat here all the time!

One of the best sushi I have had in Hawaii. We are sushi lovers so we have been trying to go try every good sushi restaurant in Hawaii. FYI, Master chef, Kinji-san, speaks little English and his wife is shy so you just have to break the ice and they will warm up to you. He is quite a character. The portion is more than generous and each piece of sushi is simple, yet has so distinct and amazing flavor. They only do Omakase so no menus, but you can ask what you like to have on your Omakase course. Also, no Sake menus. The reason behind that (which is clever) is he wants customers to see the actual bottles of Sake displayed right by the sushi counter and choose based on what you see and hear from the master chef by asking questions. He doesn't like when he orders sake and they bring it to you from behind the kitchen, not knowing how old (or maybe expired) the sake might be. Price is reasonable given how much we ate and drank. We felt we are too much cuz we wanted to try everything. It was about $610 for two with Sake before tips. What we had there would have been $900 + at other places we went. If we ate and drank moderately it would have been much cheaper. Def highly recommended. We have been to Hihimanu, Ginza Onodera and Sushi Sho (the place is a joke), and a fee others but Kin Chan is def on our top 3.

Food and service are the best!!! There was no menu. You can order Omakase which the chef will make your dinner based on his choices, and you can call it when you full. Price is around $150+ for a very full stomach. Would recommend!!!

Hands down the best sushi I've ever had. Make sure to make a reservation, and be prepared to spend some money, but it's worth every cent. Tip: when you start to get full, just let the chef know or else the food will keep coming all night long. Fantastic selection of sake as well.

Absolutely delightful! My friends and I came here to try something new, and we weren't disappointed. The atmosphere of this place was immaculate, warm, and grounded. The chef and staff kept the food coming and made sure we had all we wanted and needed. As for the food, "perfection" is the correct term. The chef has been doing this since he was 15. I was experiencing flavors I didn't know existed beforehand. I personally have never had a finer dining experience, and Kin Chan will always have my business. The beers 🍻 pretty good too.

Great omakase experience! Came here on a Wednesday night with my wife. My brother-in-law recommended this place and he's a sushi fan so I knew I was in for a treat. And Chef did not disappoint. Each dish was of high quality and delicious. I wouldn't say the dishes were unique or exotic...they were typical sushi dishes, but the quality and freshness is what shined through. An extra bonus was the coffee jelly dessert. That dessert was the proverbial cherry on top of a great meal. The night we came, the parents of Chef's son-in-law were dining next to us so it was nice to chat with them and learn a little about Chef and his family. I was told that Chef had prepared a meal for the Emperor of Japan in the past so that was very cool to find out.

We had the full set of Omakase for a little over $100. The theme is very authentic and traditional. We were told that the chef started making sushi at the age of 15! I really appreciate the good sushi and service here and most importantly there isn't any pretentious thing in this restaurant. Bear in mind you have to make reservations for dinner because walk in isn't allowed. In addition, they can speak Japanese, Chinese and English language.
