Hands down - best ice cream & sorbet I've EVER had!!! I've tried the following flavours:
- Pineapple & Coconut Sorbet: 5/5 - flavours packed a punch and I loved the real pineapple bits!
- Ube Purple Yam Ice Cream: 5/5 - and quite possibly my favourite!! A delicious and creamy taro flavoured ice cream with great texture from the bits of Ube
- Lychee Sorbet: 4/5 - amazing lychee flavours, sweet and refreshing
- Passionfruit, Orange, Guava Ice Cream: 4/5 - a delicious medley of real fruit flavours but no real fruit bits, still tasty though!
- Mango Ice Cream: 4:5 - although this is the most popular flavour, I was also disappointed that there were no real fruit bits for the added texture and it wasn't as creamy as the other ice cream flavours. However, it did taste like you were eating actual frozen mangoes which is never a bad thing.
- Watermelon Sorbet: 3/5 - unfortunately this was my least favourite as it was more icey than it was fruity.
Flavours I wish I tried: Kona Coffee Ice Cream, Honeydew Ice Cream and Avocado Ice Cream
If you don't have this while you're in Waikiki, you are MISSING OUT BIG TIME!!!!
I mentioned on my post yesterday for Steak Shack that there’s no shortage of hole-in-the-wall eateries in Waikiki. Henry’s Place is another such establishment. Located on Beach Walk (near Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin), Henry’s Place looks like it’s just a tiny little convenience store.
Great little local ice cream? shop in Honolulu. I make sure to stop by whenever I am in Hawaii for a little pick-me-up after lunch. Limited seating is available within the store vicinity. They have many different flavors available. Cash only; they do have an ATM right outside the door as well. I wouldn't say it's anything mind-blowing but if you enjoy the mom-and-pop-shop kind of feel, I recommend it.
it seems like this is a piece of history in Wakiki. This shop is very old school like 40 years ago. So prepare your cash when you visit. The ATM in the front charge $4 fee. The fruit is fresh and very tasteful. we tried the papaya cut and mango sorbet we visited in afternoon and most great flavors already sold out. Please come early if you want to try those popular ice cream.
Henry's Place has been one of our go-to places when in Waikiki. This little hole-in-the-wall is well known for their vast selection of yummy ice cream and sorbet flavours... All served in old-school styrofoam cups.
Walk in and grab your selection from the upright freezers and then enjoy your sweet treat in front of the shop or carry it to go (had a nice little chat with a local who used to work at the Outrigger - when we said we were from Canada, he said he had a friend in Canada and asked if we knew him, lol).
Personally, I prefer to let the ice cream/sorbet melt a bit so it's easier to eat. The styrofoam keeps it pretty frozen even in the Hawaiian heat. The POG (passion, orange, guava) ice cream is to die for. We made sure to come back and grabbed a strawberry guava sorbet.
Cute little local shop that I felt I had to try. Pretty much just open, grab, and go. Fairly tasty sorbet with some interesting flavors, but nothing really to write home about.
Mango ice cream was tasty! Strawberry guava sorbet was even better! Cash only and sometimes sells out at night. Just wish the cost was an even amount of dollars!
My girlfriend and I went to Henry’s Place 4 times over the course of our trip. It is a small mom and pop shop, and they make some of our favourite ice cream. All the flavours are made from scratch with real fruit.
We tried pineapple coconut, Ube, mango, mango pineapple and papaya ice creams. My favs were ube and mango.
The price has gone up compared to last year so it is bit expensive for ice cream. But it is a great place if you’re looking for Asian flavours or some more unique flavours like papaya or durian.
Loved the ice cream here so much that we almost came here every single day! My favorite flavors so far are pistachio and pineapple coconut. Unlike most US ice cream, which are way too sweet, artificial, ice cream here taste refreshing and natural! Love the product!
Wow. The RL Ube and Lychee ice creams are awesome! You may find yourself going every night! The flavours are good. A must visit while in Waikiki!
Found this place by total accident and so happy we did. Their sherbet is amazing. I really liked their lychee mango one- tasted soooo good. Highly recommend.
Recommended flavors: Pistachio, pineapple coconut, durian (if you like the flavor), ginger (if you like it).
