Aurelio's Pizza

I ordered to go but upon entering the building, I noticed nice, classic pizza joint ambience. The pizza is kind of pricey for a family size, The carryout entrance was a little difficult to find at night and being a first timer. I parked at the first parking lot I saw and had a bit of a walk to get to the entrance. The staff was friendly and helpful, they even offered to carry my food to the car since I had a sleeping toddler in my arms. The pizza.... let me first say I'm not a "Chicago style" pizza fan. I ordered thick crust and boy was it thick.. southern style biscuit thick, which took away from the toppings and sauce, I barely tasted them, but seemed flavorful, would've been better on a thin crust. The cheesesticks and fried mushrooms.. *chefs kiss*, they were delicious!! Would visit again and give the thin crust a try.

Getting here earlier in the evening is an advantage if you don't want to wait for a table. There are tables on the main floor but there are also tables available on upper levels which will give you the feeling of being in a small Italian restaurant. Booths are big and benches are wooden. They are designed so you feel separated from the table next to you. Our service was great. Alyssa had excellent timing when checking on our need for refills or boxes for our take home. We ate the stuffed pizza. It was delicious!! The crust was softer than other stuffed pizza I have eaten. I was grateful we ordered the large so we could take it home! We also had a salad while waiting for our pizza. Our waitress split it for us so we were not fumbling at the table. The dressing was served on the side and was a generous portion. If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere, good food and great service, this place is worth the wait!

My husband and I ordered a small pizza, two appetizers and one alcoholic beverage on June 19, 2022. We enjoyed our dinner and paid our bill with a debit card. We then asked the waiter to change out our $100 bill so we could pay him a tip in cash. We waited about 10 minutes and then asked about our change. The waiter informed us that his manager had to get us change. We waited about 10 more minutes and still no one approached us with our change. After about 25 minutes, two homewood police officers approach our table informing us that our $100 bill seemed to be counterfeit, according to the managers bill marker. The police officer admitted that the bill had the appropriate watermarking and other authenticating properties but the manager was still claiming it was counterfeit. I then replied the bank received counterfeit bills and couldn't detect it but an Aurelios manager can? I also asked to see the bill so I could take a pic to show the bank and they refused. The officer told us we could come pick up our $100 bill from the station, if it were found to be authentic. Fifteen minutes after we left the restaurant, the police called us to pick up our authentic $100 bill. We could see where the manager kept trying to use the marker to prove it was inauthentic. The police should've never been called and we shouldnt have had to experience any of this. Im highly disappointed in this establishment and this treatment was totally unacceptable. The treatment we received from Aurelios management was uncalled for and they've lost a customer for life!
