Sitting outside looking over the sound ,the smell of the wood burning logs in the fire pit on a chilly December day , Christmas lights on the decks.
Beautiful atmosphere. We were not very hungry but we wanted to try this place and relax for a bit. I had the hush puppies with honey butter and my husband had French fries very good on both
If you're in this area make sure to add this to your stops .
This was a great spot off the water to go! Food was average, but the service and atmosphere were great! We didn't order anything spectacular (chicken sandwich and Mac & cheese), so perhaps the other dishes would be better. Very seafood heavy menu, but have a few other non-fish options available. The bartenders were fantastic and the drinks were tasty and well made. The bar is on the marina and there is also a neighboring shop and ice cream spot. The pizza spot was closed for the season. We enjoyed sitting and having drinks and dinner on a nice summer evening. There was also great live music! Freshly popped popcorn was a nice added touch. We also did the Salty Dog Sunset Cruise which is highly recommended!
We had breakfast here this morning and WOW, it was amazingly delicious. We had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, French Toast and Belgian Waffles. All were the best breakfast we’ve eaten in a long time. The staff was all very friendly and service was superb. We highly recommend this establishment if you are in the area!

Shane was our awesome server. He was amazing. Excellent. The fried shrimp were so fresh and delicious, Hush puppies golden perfect and lots of sunshine…yes sunshine…coming through the table’s hole filled umbrella. Definitely time to replace some things and freshen up the dining spaces. Can you even imagine the revenue this place makes and an umbrella is $100. Come on…😝
The Salty Dog Cafe is legendary at South Beach on Hilton Head Island. Outdoor seating at tables with large umbrellas. Sandwiches and burgers are good, pricey, but not remarkable. Seafood items are pricey for a casual outdoor restaurant. Seafood $26 and UP. Burgers with one side start at $17.
This is a "must stop" places for visitors to Hilton Head.
It's a really nice spot next to the water. They have indoor and out door seating. And the food is delicious! They also have their own merchandise/souvenir store, a t shirt factory, and an ice cream factory. Worth the visit. Recommend not missing this place when visiting Hilton Head Island.
A Hilton Head classic! The food is amazing and the view and vibe are so good! The staff is very friendly and helpful! They also have a great drink menu! 10 out of 10 recommend!
Beautiful location on the water in Sea Pines, an exclusive area of Hilton Head Island. Although she was new, our server was very kind and helpful. The food was good but not great, but we really enjoyed the drinks.
We started with the gator bites, which were interesting but not loved by everyone. They were a bit too salty and the sweet chili sauce seemed out of place, although the meat itself was fine. The she-crab soup arrived cold but tasted much better after being warmed up. The shrimp and grits were good but not the best we’ve tried. The standout was the seafood mac and cheese, which blew me away! Definitely the best dish we tried and I’d return for that alone.
Salty Dog is worth the trip since it’s an iconic Hilton Head location, but it’s also a huge tourist destination and therefore a bit overpriced. Check out the T-shirt shop for some awesome souvenirs and to see the parrots!
If you don't visit here while on Hilton Head Island, you're making a mistake. A wide variety of dinner/lunch options for everyone in the family. The best hushpuppies you'll ever enjoy on this planet. Great dining atmosphere with outside seating as well as some beautiful views.
The service would be a lot better I think but the place was almost full. The food was good because of the taste but the looks makes it appear like a average burger. The atmosphere was amazing with the singer and a wonderful view of the bay.
