It is a full vegetarian place run by a family. It is no frills with minimum service. Food is very basic and is prepared with minimum oil and unwanted mixes. Their thali is also a decent option. Taste and preparation matches 1980 or 1990 of India. I have been here about 10 times, I believe the place needs to do some more maintenance and improve the service..

AMAZING!. Excellent place to find delicious food that is home cooked and healthy! The little family that owns it is so sweet and makes you feel right at home immediately. I recommend the samosas, followed by the thali, and ending with the cashew and pistachio fudge. Perfect (and very filling) meal. Their little grocery is awesome, too! I love this place (in case you can't tell) and going there always puts me in such a good mood. Do yourself a huge favor and go for a visit. :)

A Step into India. Yesterday, a business client of mine suggested we go to Swad for lunch. I'm not a vegetarian, so I was skeptical of what I might think of this place... It's a little hole in the wall, and when you walk in it's like India has come to Greenville. The owner greeted us with the friendliest hello and took our order. We started with samosas, which were spot on. GREAT Chutney to dip them in. I had the mutter paneer, medium spice. It was like the perfect flavor profile... slow growing spice and that rich Indian sauce you can only get at a mom and pop home-style Indian restaurant. A couple others had the baingan bharta. The eggplant was cooked perfectly, and again, great rich flavor. Another at our table had the special of the day. It came with naan and crisp bread and looked fantastic. Look... if you're not a vegetarian, you still need to give this place a shot. The flavors alone will bring a smile to you face, the but owners will really make you leave happy. If you're looking for an authentic Indian meal in Greenville, look no further than Swad Restaurant.

Really is as good as others say. On a trip with my wife and son to New England from GA, I made a point of dropping by Swad for lunch. We're vegetarian and ordered various dishes. It was all very fresh and tasty. We frequently eat Indian food at restaurants and cook it ourselves. My son got the daily thali, which I usually avoid because they can be so predictably boring. Not this thali, it was an interesting and delicious variety of dishes. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. We'll be back.

Love love love this place. I have eaten there occasionally over the past five years and really love it. Its very true authentic Indian food. I have spent time in India and can guaruntee you that it tastes the same as any Indian women's home cooking.

Just order the daily special - no matter what it is, it'll be wonderful!. I moved out of state around 5 years ago, so this is a review of what this restaurant was like back then - and it was wonderful! I used to meet a friend here for lunch maybe once a week, and we got to where we wouldn't even bother to look at the menu. "Just give us today's special," we'd say, trusting that whatever it was, it would be wonderful - and it always was! (They had fabulous nan, too!) Their channa masala was the best I've had to this day.

Best vegetarian restaurant in Greenville. I love this little restaurant. It is strictly vegetarian so you don't have to worry about cross-contamination if you don't eat meat. The food is extremely tasty, and they'll make it as spicy or as mild as you like! Just go in and ask for the special and you won't be disappointed!!

Let me tell you what’s good here. If you want home style Indian food, this is the closest you’re going to get, regardless of how it’s prepped. However, where I really think they shine is all their Chat appetizer dishes. I am Indian and I LOVE Indian street food and they do it right. Their entrees are alright, but their chat dishes are amazingly good. They are worth the trip alone. Try the samosa chaat, and thank me later! Also, it’s an older mom and pop spot and they are very sweet.

Today was my first time trying Indian food so I don't have anything to compare the experience to. What I KNOW is that the food was absolutely delicious. I played it safe and got the Paneer Tikka Masala and Samosa. The samosa had the most delicious crispy layered pastry crush. The filling was a mix of potatoes and peas I guess, I'm not 100% sure. It had the most delicious array of spices, none of which I can immediately put my finger on, and a little heat. It came with a sweet and delicious dipping sauce. The paneer tikka masala was flavorful and robust. Once again I cannot put my finger on spices, because I'm unfamiliar, but the level of heat was just right and the flavor was out of this world. The restaurant was clean and decorated with an Indian flare. The wait staff or owners were super attentive and nice without being overly in my face. A little old lady brought my masala out. Made me think of a grandmother. I didn't do much investigating but my guess would be this is family owned. I really enjoyed it, would recommend it, and look forward to trying more dishes.

This place is so good! We've only been once but it was delicious. I'm not real well versed in Indian dishes but it's so good and the owners are incredibly sweet. Dont let the look from the outside persuade you othewise. Will eat again!
