The Bakery Off Augusta

I will never step foot back into this place again after the disrespect I received today. I have followed them on Facebook for a couple of years and today they posted their cake of the week was coconut which I am big fan of. So on my lunch break I stopped by to pick up a slice . When I entered there was one other patron (a white woman) who was looking at a case of pasties and had her backed turned to myself and the lady at the counter. It was clear that she was still deciding and not ready to pay for her items. So I stepped up to the counter to order my cake slice (there was no more than a foot between us and no way she could not see me) and she slightly turned her head and looked down at the counter, not acknowledging my presence. Then she turns to the other person who was now beside me and asks if she was needing anything out of the case. The other customer hesitated but I stepped to the side once it was clear I was not going to be help . She the rings up the other customer while finally looking at me several times. While I kept my composure, it was clear to me that she had a problem with my skin (whether It because I’m black or covered in tattoos or perhaps both) so instead I made sure she could see the disgust on my face. I certainly hope this person wasn’t the owner, but after sharing my experience with someone who has visited the bakery several times, such behavior was displayed to her as well. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

My family and I are big supporters of small businesses around the upstate but no longer will be buying from this place, the customer service is god awful and downright disappointing. They act like serving you and a a hassle! They got our order wrong we asked for a chocolate cupcake and got an eclair instead in which cream was super sour.

The Bakery off Augusta did an amazing job on my wedding cake. We had the most fun at our consultation discussing design and flavor combinations. They gave us a box of samples to take home and try. We landed on almond cake soaked in amaretto with chocolate ganache filling. They brought it on location the day-of and decorated it with fresh cut flowers and greenery provided by our florist. It was stunning. The price was extremely reasonable, and they provide a complimentary mini version as an anniversary cake after one year. Would highly recommend The Bakery off Augusta to any bride-to-be!
